We stayed here for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary and for a post covid treat.

The hotel is absolutely wonderful, the decor is really fresh and vibrant but has traditional aspects throughout.

The bathroom has a very deep bath, walk in rainfall shower, and a Bluetooth speaker mirror.

Bedroom is a great size, and was cleaned perfectly. Only negative with the bedroom is I think they need to upgrade their TV to a smart screen so you can screen mirror and access Netflix ect if you have an account, as normal TV is so rubbish.

The reception staff are really helpful and seem happy in their work, the coffee machine in reception is a lovely touch.

We had breakfast there for one of the mornings, it is lovely fresh produce and served in a fab bright room overlooking the hills. The only negative with this is that the staff don't explain what you can order in the price, we paid £20 for both of us and ordered a full English, but wasn't sure if we was able to order fruit, pastries etc as well.

We also ate in the pub the first night, and this was the place most the negatives were unfortunately. The starters were incredible, we had scallops and onion and celeriac soup. My husband had the lamb and mint hotpot for a main and unfortunately only had 2 pieces of lamb inside. We told the waiter about this and he dismissed it rather rudely and stated "OK ill feed that back", I do feel in this situation it would have been nice to offer us a dessert free of charge or a refund for the main, but instead it wasn't mentioned again so we left without ordering anything else.

The music in the bar is also a little too loud and we had to leave after a night cap on the final night.

I would recommend this hotel for a romantic break away, but you do need to drive, there is plenty of parking though, and also saw a lot of dogs staying as well which is lovely.

Dear Hollymc1709 Thank you for taking the time to leave us a 5* review. We take all feedback onboard and endeavour to improve through guests comments. We perform a check back on all main courses in the restaurant, this is to ensure guest's are satisfied. We do advise you to let us know at this time as we could have happily replaced the meal rather than you leaving feeling disappointed. Our breakfast menu explains that continental breakfast is inclusive in the price, I am sorry if this wasn't clear, I do wish you had clarified it with one of our team. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Kind Regards Cara Spence Resident Manager

After being cooped up for months, a nice nights break away was very much appreciated. Payment was taken the night before over the phone to limit contact upon check-in, and the key cards were left on a table next to reception for the same reason.
The room itself was lovely, and very clean. The phone signal isn't great, but they provide free WiFi which worked well. The bathroom was great, and the bath was nice and deep.
We didn't have our evening meal in the restaurant, but we did stop by for a drink afterwards. It was brought out to us as we sat outside. They could maybe do with some citronella or lavender/lemon oils to keep the midges away. The drinks were typically 'hotel priced'.
We had an excellent night sleep in the emperor-sized bed. The breakfast was good. We were asked to fill in a sheet with our order, but then asked to read out our order anyway. My girlfriend asked for no bacon and mushroom on her breakfast but was given both, but I guess it's better to have too much than too little. It was tasty.
The staff throughout were a delight. The lady on reception (who was there at check-in and through to 23:00 and then again when we went for breakfast!) was extremely welcoming and friendly. The breakfast staff were lovely, especially having to put up with other customers who book a time at breakfast and then say they need to be gone in 30 minutes (?) or those who rudely speak to the staff about how toasted their toast is (?!).
Overall, it was a lovely night away and a very welcomed one. We felt they were taking all the relevant precautions that they could and we would visit again if in the area.

We decided that we would stay somewhere special for our annual visit back home to see family as we are not able to go abroad this year due to the ongoing virus. Having read reviews of the Hotel we had high expectations and were really looking forward to our break. We are happy to say that our expectations were exceeded in every way. The hotel is in a beautiful setting overlooking the countryside with plenty of parking, beautiful rooms and bathrooms and the food in the Red Lion was presented beautifully and we loved sitting in the bar with a drink by the fire. we have stayed in some beautiful and luxury hotels around the world and The Peak Edge Hotel beds and bedding reminded me of our stays in the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore large plump pillows and huge beds with nice quality bedding. We were extremely happy with our rooms and the food which we were served during our stay. We had a package which gave us breakfast and an allowance for dinner each day which worked really well for us. Because of the virus the rooms were not serviced during our stay but it was made clear that we just had to ask for anything we needed and we collected fresh milk and coffee and anything we needed from reception before we retired for the night. Each and every member of staff we encountered were polite well dressed and professional and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is definitely worthy of its 4 star status and if it had a pool and a spa it would be 5 star! We were very happy with our two night break and everything was kept immaculately clean and we felt very safe and looked after which is very important with the ongoing virus. Thank you all for a very enjoyable stay, A stay here in the summer when the weather is good would be great as there are plenty of outdoor tables and chairs and beautiful views .We will be back.

My wife spotted this hotel on the internet whilst browsing for a short break away. Having checked out the details and reading the reviews we decided to book a superior double room for 2 nights. Upon arrival, we were surprised how big the hotel was with ample parking for all. Checking in we were greeted by smart friendly staff and presented with our keys and various info for our stay. Unbeknown to us, our daughter had secretly upgraded us to a luxury room. We were directed to the Devonshire Suite on the 1st floor. The room was enormous and furnished to a high standard, complete with Queen sized bed. The bathroom was particularly impressive with a modern bath and large walk in shower. The room was very comfortable with a 3 piece suite and large TV and was spotlessly clean with everything you needed.
We dined in the adjoining Red Lion Bar and Restaurant which I have to say was sheer quality. The design, lighting and furnishings were exceptional and led to a warm and relaxing atmosphere. In the newly built conservatory, the food was very well presented and served by polite, well dressed and attentive staff. Afterwards we enjoyed some drinks and a sit out on the terrace taking in the views on comfortable seating.
There's plenty to do in the area only a short drive away. We had a great day in Matlock and enjoyed the cable car ride and caverns.
This hotel oozes quality and the standard of service and cleanliness is a credit to the hotel management.
I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to staying there again soon. Well done team!

Peak Edge Hotel, Derbyshire
The hotel consists of accommodation, pub and restaurant. It is located on the B5057 and is therefore remote from any villages or other attractions, restaurants etc.,

The hotel is modernly decorated and attractive. The public lounge area was cosy. Car parking was plentiful and there was a lawned area with large pond to the rear of the complex.

Our bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom was large with both bath and separate shower. A fridge stocked a supply of drinks along with complementary milk and water. The air conditioning was noisy and when switched off we could hear quite loud traffic noise at night through opened windows. Use of the room telephone was chargeable. Housekeeping could have been better as our room was dusty and the shower area definitely needed a clean.

Whilst the food was good, the service in the restaurant was poor and disorganised. We waited 40 minutes one evening for someone to take our order for dinner and even then other guests food was brought to our table. We were only supplied with bread on one occasion. Ordered food and drink was forgotten and we had to ask several times for it.

Staff, particularly in the restaurant did not wear masks. Hand sanitiser was not readily available to guests in the restaurant until I asked for some.

Overall, we would be happy to stay at the hotel again providing standards above are addressed, but we would not stay more than one or two nights due to its remoteness from other facilities.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed a comfortable stay with us and liked the facilities available in the room during your stay. Our award-winning, Hypnos memory foam beds provide the perfect night's sleep and often prove popular amongst our guests regarding their level of comfort. We thank you for your feedback regarding the servicing of your room during your stay. We can assure our housekeeping team clean each room thoroughly between each of our stays, in the current climate more so than ever. I am pleased to hear you found the food served in our restaurant, Red Lion to be good. Training of staff is an ongoing process we continue to mandate with the majority of the team being new after the events of the past year. I apologise for any delays incurred waiting for your order to be taken. Our freshly baked bread is served complimentary to our guests once seated. Had more of this been requested by yourselves the team would have been happy to accommodate this. Both our staff and guests are no longer required by law the wear face coverings, this is now a personal preference at the discretion of the individual. Despite this we can ensure we take cleaning measures extremely seriously, with hand sanitiser available at all public touchpoints. We thank you for your feedback and hope to welcome you back to Peak Edge again in the future. Kind regards Lucy Guest services

beautiful hotel, chose a suite for 2 nights.
whole suite was incredibly clean and well maintained. decor was lovely. the shower was amazing. bed huge and super comfy.
lady on reception was so lovely and very helpful.
we didnt use the restaurant but chose room service instead, easy to order, staff were very helpful and polite, food didn’t take long to come, very reasonably priced and looked lovely when it arrived.
my only slight downside was it was a fairly limited menu, especially for vegetarian.
but even so, the food tasted great and couldn’t fault it at all!

given the current situation, the hotel has set up brilliantly, there is enough room to stay apart from staff, checking in from a distance, room service brought to your door rather than in the room. it felt very safe and also still welcoming and relaxing as there were no clinical looking screens or hazards tape on the floor which weve seen at other hotels.

the only small downside to the room for us was it was above reception so we could hear the doors opening at night.

however it is possibly one of the nicest hotel rooms we’ve stayed in and with the nicest staff.
we would definitely come again and are actually planning our next visit already but maybe a suite overlooking the grounds next time.

We stayed at the Peak Edge hotel in early August as a treat for our wedding anniversary. The superior double room was lovely - absolutely huge comfy bed! The room was spotless, as was the whole hotel.
We ate at the Red Lion in the evening. The menu was limited for vegetarians; they have a restricted menu due to the current pandemic. I wasn’t keen on either of the options available (my own fussy fault!) However, the staff went above and beyond and adapted a starter for me to make a main which was delicious.
Overall, the customer service was faultless. We felt very safe; there’s plenty of hand gel and people adhered to social distancing measures. I would definitely return to the hotel.

Stayed here as a couple for our anniversary and everything was excellent. We arrived early and were shown into the bar area where we could wait for our room to be ready. Lovely atmosphere & reasonably priced drinks. When the room was ready we went up and it was very spacious, modern and incredibly clean, there was even an anniversary card for us in the room which was a lovely touch. The bed was huge and so comfy with lovely views into the garden area. We booked to eat in the red lion restaurant which was really nice, good selection on the menu and staff were all really nice and we didn’t feel rushed or pressured when we couldn’t make up our minds! The next morning we had breakfast in the new part of the restaurant which was really bright and airy with lovely decor and table settings, the eggs Benedict were delicious too. 100% would return to this lovely hotel ☺️

I booked two nights at the Peak Edge Hotel as a surprise Christmas present for my partner (and me!!). I wanted a couple of nights of luxury after a day's walking in the Peak District and we were not disappointed.

From arrival until departure, the staff could not do enough for us and were extremely helpful with any requests.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and spacious, my only concern would be that I would have expected there to be more hand sanitiser scattered around, particularly from the interior walk through the corridors of the hotel to the restaurant, there are plenty of tables where these could be placed after opening doors etc., whilst walking to the Red Lion, hand sanitiser is available at the reception only (from my observation), that said we always carry sanitiser ourselves.

We upgraded to a superior room with a balcony, the room (206) was beautiful, clean and spacious. The bed was enormous and sooo comfortable, making it very hard to get out of for a day of walking Kinder Scout on a cold (but beautiful) January morning. The bathroom was luxurious with blue tooth mirrors so you can play your favourite music whilst having a soak, the bath was huge. The lake view from the room was very pretty, unfortunately the doors didn't open but this was rectified following a call to reception, though again on the second night the doors didn't open, I informed them once more, but as we were leaving the following day anyway, it was really just to let them know. Upon checking out, I was delighted to learn that the extra I had paid had been discounted due to the doors. No complaints there at all, very good customer service.

We booked dinner in the Red Lion for both evenings and were more than impressed by the quality of the food served, layout of the bar/restaurant and service provided by the friendly staff. The menu for both breakfast and dinner, caters for most and everything we ordered was simply delicious, big thank you to the kitchen staff for their attention to detail and amazing presentation of the food served, just delicious, perfect poached eggs for breakfast and the duck was so tasty and very well cooked.

We would definitely stay here again and recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a luxury escape.

Thank you to all the staff, we'll definitely be back.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying with us at The Peak Edge Hotel for your Christmas trekking holiday. I am delighted to hear your kind comments regarding our Peak Edge team. We strive to make a fantastic lasting impression on all of our guests, and go the extra mile where we can. You may be interested to know our interior design is by Angie Perez who hand picks our antiques, furniture and decorations. Our garden facing balcony rooms are a wonderful way to enjoy the surrounding countryside and grounds as well as provide a panoramic view. Regrettably, as in any building, we can occasionally experience some minor maintenance issues, however I'm pleased to hear that we resolved the issue for you. Our 2 Rosette Red Lion Restaurant and Bar is a beautiful, rustic and cosy yet contemporary addition to the hotel which is further complimented by our rural views, locally sourced produce, including produce from our very own farm Walton Lodge. I will be certain to pass on your positive feedback to all of our staff and we very much look forward to welcoming you back to the Peak Edge Hotel in the not too distant future. Kind regards, Joshua Chinn

What a stunning hotel, with a stunning location, great staff and an ideal place to visit Bakewell or Matlock or walk the many paths in this beautiful part of the country.
Lovely room overlooking the small pond was very clean and absolutely gorgeous, we were told they would not clean the room for the three days we were there due to the present situation, but that was no problem, if you need anything they are only too happy to accommodate. Breakfast was of a good quality, everything was on offer and the hot food was served exactly that, piping hot. Could highly recommend the hotel, the Red Lion is another matter.
