Me and my partner stayed here after we'd been to Alton towers, it's located around 6-7 miles from the park. The pub is very friendly and welcoming, all the locals were extremely friendly and made us welcome. The rooms are very spacious, clean and have basic amenities. Breakfast (full English) the next morning was very tasty and set us up...

Dropped in for a swift half one late lunch time. A few customers. My ale was very well kept. Staff brusque and more concerned with gossiping with their friends/family members sat opposite the bar. I looked at the menu for future reference and found it confusing and a huge range of snacks and meals. Walking round the back of the...

Our first visit last night was very good. We were amazed at the size of the portions. The food was cooked to perfection. Best meal in a long time and will certainly return very soon. Polite and friendly staff and food served without much waiting time at all.

Our family was having a day out at the adjacent Churnet Valley Railway to celebrate my 70th birthday. Our eldest daughter lives in Stoke but the rest of us were coming from Blackpool, Reading and London. We thought we would arrive separately coming such long distances but we actually arrived within a few minutes of each other. We asked the...

Amazed at how large the portions are , was gob smacked. Very family friendly . Great Sunday lunch . Very close to the train station so great pit stop if you've been on the train. Lots of parking at the train station if you can't park elsewhere ,

We called in at The Railway Inn without knowing anything about it, while staying in the area for the weekend. There were 9 of us and the Railway staff were very helpful and polite. We had 8 steaks and one curry. We all enjoyed our meals, large portions and hot food. Guiness was perfect. The pub seemed to have a...

We didn't try the bar and the staff seemed alright, though not particularly welcoming or informative. Key points that ensured we will not return: - very dusty room - very old mattress where you could feel every spring - no toiletries bar some handwash - no WiFi except in the bar area - no info re breakfast nor things to...
