Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently stayed here for 2 nights, whilst the location is fine, I was told by the manager that even though my “deluxe” room had mostly a view of the highway running in front of the motel that I wouldn’t hear anything as there was soundproofing. Not sure where this was, because the traffic noise was very loud, also the noise between rooms was off putting being able to clearly hear conversations, television and other noises through the adjoining door.

All the light switches were filthy, and the bathroom whilst serviceable is nothing special, when using the shower the whole bathroom floor gets wet as there is no partition to prevent this. To be perfectly honest as a solo traveller I felt uncomfortable here and if I had had a choice I would have found somewhere else to stay.

We were meant to stay at this hotel, however due to the uncertainity and COVID-19 had to change our flights outs. We had a no refund policy, however the hotel did not balk at giving us a full refund. Forever grateful.

We stayed here for a few nights with our dog and it was pleasant enough for the price. The room was tidy and traffic outside wasn't too loud. The one complaint I would have is that we only got 1 small bottle of shampoo between us, which wasn't replaced when the room was cleaned.

My partner and i Decided to call up on the day of to book a room for one night with our two sphynx cats, which was AWESOME!! Ended up staying 3 nights as we just didn't want to go home.. it was such a lovely place to stay. Have stayed here once before a few years back, has been updated since and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The bed is SO big !! Was so comfortable and the sheets and blankets were luxurious, the room was so well presented when we came in.. the black out curtains are also a great thing! Plenty of facilities to use, microwave, kettle, flat screen TV, toaster, lamps, iron, hair-dryer & a heat pump. Our room had a bath which I found amazing and the best shower I've had in a long time !!.. you hear the occasional car from the bathroom only as the window was open and heard no neighbours at all the entire time.. you could not tell it was just off the highway. The service was so great we got stocked up on fresh towels, milk ect and had all our rubbish taken care of each day! Oh and the location is convenient too with the largest shopping complex in tasmania just 5 minutes walk down the hill and just a short drive over the bridge to get to Hobart city. The view from the hotel is awesome too!!

It about the twelfth time I have stayed at the City View, great value and the owner Grant is on call and extremely helpful. Nothing and I repeat nothing is a problem from booking cabs, giving advice on the area & restaurants or organising bookings for you. Yes it’s is slightly aged but the accommodation is clean and tidy and is constantly undergoing upgrades each time I have visited, thank you for such a enjoyable stay

We book two double room at this place through a travel agent, when we arrived there, we saw that we have one bed room with one double bed, the other room with two single beds. They said it's the travel agent's mistake, however, they managed to change us to another two larger rooms(each with one double bed and a single bed) and we thank you for this. Then we were informed in a letter of list that we won't be provided with room services (eg. linen cleaned everyday) & hot water will be re-running after 3 hours when we finish the first run. We all understanded the policies, but the hot water ran out way tooooo fast at the first night, so our parents made a complain later the next day. Then, the second night, we figured out blood stains inside on our blankets, we didn't saw it at the first night because we felt exhausted and just went to sleep straight away, and we certainly know that the blood stains were from the last user as they said they won't change linen and the blood is from inside of the blanket cover. We then told our travel agent the next day that we need our bed blanket change. The owner came in after 10-20 mins and ask ''who's the lady that has problem with us?''
and then we showed him the stains on the blankets and been told rudely that ''this is clean, no arguments'', and say this is what we paid for, or if we can pay more, we can go to the Hilton's, really aggressive.
I said, you said this is clean, then I'll put the photos on the TripAdvisor (at that time I was really stupid to say that, I should have done it anyway). He then threatened me that if I do that, he would make me not able to put anything on TripAdvisor anymore. And after he got pissed off and told us that he would call police and kick us out.
We've booked for three nights and was kicked out on the last night

I could not believe it, my friend and I booked online and stated that we would be arriving at 4pm. On arrival at 3.30pm after travelling hours to get there, we entered the office & were not so kindly greeted, we were quite rudely told our room had been sold as apparently my credit card hadn't worked, no apologies no rooms left. They told us that they had tried to contact us several times with no avail. Yet I had only one missed call, no emails sent from them and later received an email from booking.com saying our room was cancelled because we didn't show up. We were left stranded and feeling very unwelcome. We finally found a cheaper room with much friendlier staff @ the sun valley Inn not far down the road. Never again will I go to the City view. Not a good experience.

My recent stay here was a memorable one but will never stay here again
The first room I was given had a shower in which the tiled floor had numerous colours with a shower curtain but nothing on the floor to contain the water so after taking a shower with little water pressure the bathroom was under water. After the first footstep into the room I smelled an odour which was to strong on the nose ( maybe I have a sensitive nose) I was tolled by the manager "I can't smell anything" then it was oh it was the bush fires
I was given another room the bathroom had hair from past guests everywhere just absolute filth in my book
Stay away from this dump Like the plague

Charged me for a room I didn't use even though I called the day before to cancel. Apparently that wasn't "24 hours notice". What is wrong with you people? I would never book again now and would not advise anyone else to do so regardless of the quality of the hotel room. Poor customer service which should not happen in this day and and bad for Tasmania too. I could not afford to be charged for a room I was unable to use. The correct response would surely have been " very sorry we won't be able to see you tomorrow, but do come again soon".

Arrived and told we should have rang and booked because booking.com get paid a commission etc. (probably didn't need to know that) then got sarcasm because we asked for our travel partners room to be near if possible.

Then dip inside floor of room with lip on other side which caused my son to hurt and bruise his toe!

Bathroom old and bath mat dirty, no towel to put on floor after shower, no face washers. However linen was clean and bed was comfy enough.

I would not right a bad review usually but the service was questionable. Our children were playing with an inflatable ball in a near empty car park and nowhere near the two cars (one of which was ours). Were told off by owner and told they couldn't throw it! Ball was inflatable did I mention!

So not my recommendation for a family to stay!
