The oldest licences house in Wales is well worth a visit. Proper olde worlde charm, with log fires, beams on low ceilings and a grapevine growing in the conservatory. The staff are friendly, efficient and attentive. My rare rib-eye steak was cooked to perfection. The rooms are airy and super clean, the bed was absolutely massive! And the bath filled with steaming hot water very quickly, utter luxury. One slight hiccup was there there was no smoked haddock for eggs Arnold Bennet for breakfast, but the cheese and mushroom omelette made specially as a substitute was very good. The Groes Inn really is a lovely place for a break. The staff are great, rooms are lovely, as is the food. The location is perfect for exploring and visiting the historic town of Conwy.

Visited Sat 27th Jan. we are locals and the three of us were accommodated quickly by the manager. We ordered the cheese and onion pie, the chips with brisket cheese topped and I ordered the soup to start with. Personally I am not a big fan of cheap bulk cheddar cheese they use it here and I fancied a burger with some nice cheese on it, one that I liked. The Tower burger was advertised as £16.95 topped with cheddar so I simply requested that the cheddar cheese as advertised on the £16.95 burger was changed to the other cheddar cheese advertised on the cheese board and I stated that I would not mind paying extra if it comes to it. I thought it would be a simple request for the chef to handle. The waitress went away to ask the chef if it was possible….. The waitress then came back and shockingly said to us No! The chef said it was not possible to change the cheese on the burger! I stated again that I would not mind paying extra as the other cheddar is advertised on the cheese board and it is a simple task of swapping one cheese for another but was told No! it’s just not possible here. An uncomfortable silence ensued….I then had to change my order. I ordered something different but then ordered the cheese board afterwards. Ironically cheese board came with the cheese I requested to be put on the burger in replacement of the cheaper cheese they use. On bringing this up with the manager who was very professional he gave us the cheeseboard for free. Still felt awful and insulted. Obviously the chef here is very awkward and does not care for his customers.

Nice pub in a beautiful location. Dog friendly. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was really nice. We only had light bits and drink but still really good quality and value. We sat in a quiet little corner next to a log fire which was nice and cosy. Thank you.

Absolutely loved it. Nice comfortable room with a mountain view, very friendly and helpful staff, evening meal and breakfast were superb. As we arrived during a storm (Storm Debi), the place was getting a hammering with wind and rain but everything was cosy inside, the meal in the conservatory, sharing the space with the massive grape vine, was nice n warm especially hearing the storm outside. First stopped at the Groes Inn some decades ago for a meal spotting it as we passed it and this is the first chance we had to stay, now we hope to be back at some time in the future.
