We booked a bed, breakfast and evening meal deal for our anniversary, we only live 20 mins away. The room was lovely and quaint, a decent size, as was the bathroom! The bed was huge and very comfortable. It was the little things that made the overnight stay extra special. Bottled water, a cafetiere, tissues, a little box with ear buds, face pads etc. The bathroom has a full bath, overhead shower and even a bidet! There was a £30 allowance toward the evening meal which was exceptional, as was the breakfast the following morning. It was all decked out for Christmas which was nice. Add in plenty of free parking, makes this hotel a perfect place to stay. Highly recommended!

We had a mountain view room on the first floor which was really tastefully decorated, spacious with a huge comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom which had the best shower we have ever been in. Room temp was perfect and easily adjusted to suit. The room was beautifully clean and we got fresh, fluffy, big towels each day.

We had a couple of main meals in the restaurant, which had a good choice, and reasonably priced, portion sizes are very good although may be too large for some (we had the pies) . The breakfast was again good quality with a good choice of hot and cold options.

The waiting staff were brilliant, particularly Rachel(?) who couldn't do enough to make our stay any better including local advice on car parking, activities and directions to various places.

The Groes Inn is perfect for a short stay, it has loads of free parking, peacefully located yet minutes in the car to all the places of interest. The Inn itself is very oldy worldy and a bit shabby but that’s part of its charm, not a negative.

We would definitely recommend.

We had the most delightful lunch experience at The Groes Inn in Conwy! The value for money was truly exceptional, with both 2 and 3 course options available for under £20. The setting was simply lovely, with the warm log burners creating a cozy and inviting ambiance. I particularly enjoyed the beautiful conservatory adorned with grape vines, which added a touch of elegance to our meal. It's worth mentioning that the accommodation provided and the availability of free parking made our visit even more convenient. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. We highly recommend The Groes Inn for a memorable and satisfying meal.

Our overnight stay was a mixed experience. While the food was good, the accommodation was awful and left us feeling ripped off and disappointed.

We stayed in room 18, which was small, grubby, and poorly maintained. The carpets needed cleaning, the curtains were hanging off, and the shower screen was covered in mould. The garish wallpaper was peeling off, the paint was scratched, and the walls were scuffed. The only clean thing was the bedding.

We paid £175 for the room, plus extra for an evening meal package, but the standard and basic cleanliness was far from satisfactory. It's hard to believe that prices start at £160 per night for such poor quality. The lack of a dressing area was also frustrating, with only a desk and no mirror available.

The view was the only redeeming feature of the room, but even that was marred by a waterlogged and rusty flat roof. We appreciated the effort to charge extra for the view, but it felt like a cheeky move. The room was located above a busy pub, but surprisingly, it wasn't noisy, although there were food smells.

Overall, the accommodation was very grubby, tired, and poorly thought out. It felt like student digs, and it's rare for me to leave such a negative review. The staff were friendly, and the evening meal was lovely, but the accommodation was not worth the money. Breakfast was average, with nothing great or bad to report.

In conclusion, I would not recommend this place based on the poor quality of the accommodation, and I feel like the prices are very unreasonable for what you get.

I can’t give more than 1 star as the accommodation was so bad.

Enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Groes Inn. The accommodation and restaurant are dog friendly and the food and drink good. It is located in the middle of nice countryside and the service very good. The room was comfortable even if it could do with a slight refresh in certain areas and was very clean and well stocked with drinks, toiletries etc.
Overall a nice stay and we would return.

A lovely looking Inn real history, the oldest pub in Wales I think so loads of character. A warm and friendly welcome on arrival , it had a buzzing atmosphere and is big inside with what it seems lots of iBooks and crannies to hideaway to eat the excellent food. Very dog friendly. We had room 6 outside and it was great space to relax with your pets and not worry too much, I assume the rooms in the hotel are more catered for the people without their pet friends. Set in beautiful countryside looking over a lake. Loads of beautiful places a short drive away. I have booked for next year, I’m local only 39 mins away but will visit this place often because of the staff and the great food and real ale, cosy fires and its history.

What a wonderful overnight visit we had at this gem and I cannot recommend it enough. From the minute we arrived, every single member of the team was wonderful; they were all so helpful, friendly, professional and welcoming. The room was spotless with thoughtful touches like a mini cafetiere and real coffee, still and sparkling water. The rooms were a good size and very comfortable. There's plenty of parking. We arrived at 8.15 but were still able to get an evening meal and it was beautiful. The rioja was delicious, always a positive for me. There was a really good choice for breakfast, everything was good quality and cooked freshly for you, it really did set you up for the day and the staff were once again excellent. The In is in a lovely location, the bar, food and rooms are all very good but the team who work there made our stay. I've never stayed anywhere before where every single person you interact with is excellent. We will definitely be back.

We had a Mountain View room with a stunning view of Snowdons lowlands and a small balcony. Room was a good size and so was bathroom. Bed was a little hard for me but my husband said it was very comfortable, it was a massive bed. The wi fi was OK but not the strongest but completely understandable considering the location. All the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient. Good breakfast choice and tasty and we only had dinner in the restaurant once but that was good too. Enjoyed our 2 night stay and location for visiting different locations/tourist sites was perfect, Conwy literally 5 mins, Bodnant Garden 10 mins and Snowdon, Betsycoed and Llandudno and Great Orme all within 20 minutes. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely place, spotlessly clean. Rooms spacious, quite and everything we needed. Bed was hard to me personally but bedding spotless and comfortable, cozy, everything great temperature wise and comfortable.

Bathroom spotless, fluffy towels, temple spa toiletries and great water pressure.

Wonderful food, great breakfast and staff really helpful and firendly.

Would definitely stay here again.

Ample parking and really well placed for local attractions (especially bodnant gardens and the water gardens).

Location and history are a 5, as are the team on staff at the Groes….. loverly people who can’t do enough for customers and in my case my dog.
Two things need attention: the property needs some TLC the rooms in particular, the outside is the right side of tired, but only just a program of maintenance is overdue due.
The second thing is to elevate the food and beverage offer and bring back the Welsh ingredients, it would make a huge difference, the Lancashire pub chain (JW Lees) sourced standard pub menu isn’t really a fit for the property, it’s location or the tourists from all over the world discovering Wales as a destination.

With so much great Welsh food, ale, cider, cheese and wine locally, It would be easy to elevate the whole offer and experience. This should be the jewel in the crown for JWL Group.

Tip;-

If you stay, I would highly recommend the planned walks.

Thank you for a great few days to all at the Groes Inn.
