My partner and I stayed at Le Clos de la Brete for two nights in late July. We could tell how friendly and accommodating Florence (the owner) was even before we arrived. The whole house is well maintained, clean and nicely decorated. If you're lucky enough to have nice weather, continental breakfast on the terrace or in the garden is wonderful.

All in all, I would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quality, friendly stay outside of Saumur (it's about 15 minutes by car).

Other comments: The B&B has two cats, who were very friendly. If you have a car, there is a gated drive but you may need to organise your comings and goings with other guests if they have cars. There are a couple vineyards nearby (just about walking distance). One was recommended by Florence and looked like a fantastic place but was unfortunately closed when we visited. If you're interested in wine tasting, be sure to ask Florence about the nearby vineyards – they're likely to be...

“We stayed in the ground floor room of the annex. The gorgeous monsoon shower was my favourite part of our room, but it was slightly disconcerting that there was no door between the bathroom and the sleeping area, so not much privacy. And although the room was very quiet in terms of noise from outside, we were awoken in the morning by children running around in the room upstairs. So although this is a very nice B&B, I would probably suggest taking a room in the house proper if you want a bit more privacy or sleep in the morning! Also I suspect the rooms are a bit bigger, and ours was on the small side.”
