Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The room was compact but had everything we needed and a really comfortable bed. The walk to Lathkill dale was superb. Staff were friendly and helpful. The lamb hotpot pie was sublime. Great place to stay even in wet weather.

We had a great overnight stay here while visiting Haddon Hall and walking in the area. The evening meal options were great as we needed a good vegetarian option and the breakfast was fantastic! The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. We will look to stay here again

Thought we’d try this out because of the views and we weren’t disappointed. Absolutely stunning and a great garden area to take it all in. Luckily they had cover as we visited on the hottest week of the year. Staff really friendly, good selection of drinks and reasonable price. Well worth a visit just for the views.

Found this hotel/pub after a walk in the valley, excellent beer choice, wine good and one of the best views from a pub table we have ever had. Not the most attractive hotel but in a great position. Very friendly and welcoming staff too

We enjoyed every bit of our overnight stay at the hotel after enjoying the pie and quiz night with friends. The staff in particular are the loveliest people you could meet and were happy to keep everything a secret that was meant as a surprise for a birthday, The view from the bedroom was superb and everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was perfectly cooked. It was a real pleasure to stay there.

Great place for amazing views over Lathkill Dale. Staff are very friendly. we had Sunday evening meal. There were no Roasts, rest of the menu was standard pub fare. We sat in the bar area that was busy with a nice buzz with a mixture of locals and walkers. Service was a bit slow but with the views it really didn't matter.

The hotel was clean and welcoming. We took our granddaughter with us at short notice and they were very accommodating. We felt very at home. The view from our room was glorious. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We hope to visit again very soon.

Excellent place to stop for a drink or lunch during a pleasant walk in the Peak District. Set just above beautiful Lathkill Dale, the hotel offers tasty lunches at avery affordable price. We had a starter folloed by a fish finger sandwich with a twist. All was delicious! Good choice of drinks including locally sourced ales , beers, wines and non alcoholic beverages, plus teas and coffees. Suitable for couples and families. Free parking available. Well worth a visit

Attended a wake following my sister’s funeral and internment in the church and churchyard£respectively. Three of us had lunch prior to the funeral. The lunch and wake buffet were very pleasant and can recommend the food. It has ambience and is a place I’ve visited forever!! The staff I met were delightful and made a sad ( and very wet day) most bearable. Parking was onsite too and sorry not be able see the gardenThank you
