This is a renovated traditional farm - cortijo - with guest rooms in a purpose built extension, all with flat roofs and set in gardens furnished with drought tolerant planting. (It was photos of the gardens that first caught my eye - this is a semi-desert region and lush lawns and water demanding plants are a drain on precious water...

We only stayed for a few nights but we were pleasantly surprised. Intially we had a few communication problems; but once we had arrived we realised what an amazing job the owners had done with El Campillo. The room was very clean and just the right size. There was a ventilator that kept the room cool. We did have a...

Annika and Martin are wonderful and caring hosts. The accommodation is really comfortable, quiet and set in the most stunning location in the Cabo de Gata. The food was delicious and very plentiful. Martin is an excellent guide for paragliding for the local sites around Andalucia. I had some stunning flights, particularly at Sierra Alhamilla, but there are many other...

In a wonderful setting, at the edge of the mountains and out of sight of the greenhouses we found the Cortijo. Even though the welcome was quite difficult (we had to look and shout for fifteen minutes before someone heard us) we were touched by the warm personality of Anna. The drive to Rodalquilar through the mountains is wonderful as...

This very pleasant restored cortijo farmhouse sits in the middle of Andalucían red earth desert National Park of Cabo de Gata. Within minutes of arriving, I held a cup of tea in my hand chatting to owner Annika in her kitchen, like visiting a friend. Another 15 minutes later, we were trying our skills at the newly built archery range,...

Our three days at Cortijo El Campillo ranks as one of our top getaways so far. The owners Annika and Martin were absolutely amazing hosts. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we took full advantage of Martin's sturdy mountain bikes to explore the incredible surroundings. Breakfasts quickly became our favorite meal of the day with Annika's sumptuous spreads of...

I had been in Almeria province already and I loved it, therefore me and my partner took some time to spend there and we were looking for a rural, simple and authentic option for our stay. In August the aria is unfortunately packed. We have been so lucky to find "El Campillo" because it is exactly where we wanted to...
