This is a lovely hotel with super friendly staff. Many of them speek English. They are helpfull in organising excursions. When we booked the stay in Nosy Be we only got three nights at this hotell and had to select another for the last days because this was fully booked. The staff helped og to get our luggage to the... This was a life saver! My biggest regret was that we didn't discover this hotel earlier. At the end of a crazy little bustling street along a stunning beach you get to large timber gates that open into a different world - calm and serene - a hotel from a different era - almost French colonial. Laze around in hammocks,... More

The place is gorgeous and quiet, little paradise, the staff extremely kind and helpful. Rooms are small but nice and the shower is not hot but you don't need it as its so warm. Unluckily my air-conditioner didn't work and when I realized at nine pm nobody was around, I tried to open the windows but there are no mosquito... More

This is a lovely oasis at the end of the main strip. We stayed six nights and enjoyed the peaceful beach and porches. Only the manager speaks English, but she was incredibly helpful organizing excursions, transfers and pointing us in the right direction. The breakfast that is included is lovely. You can take it on the verandah by your room... More

One of the best and most hospitable places we encountered in various trips to and throughout Madagascar. Hardly beatable located on the end of a very nice beach in Nosy Be with guaranteed ocean sound in the comfortable, clean and well-equipped rooms. This goes with very reasonable pricing and great attention of the owners and their staff for anything you... More

We got here late at night after arriving from Antananarivo - we could hear the ocean at the end of the garden, but did not see it until the morning, when we were surprised at how close the beach was to our rooms! The rooms were clean, comfy, spacious, and the staff friendly and helpful (helping me to get my... More

This place run bei Gérard obviously forever is a very nice and cosy little bungalow place in Nosy Be (or Ambatoloaka to be precise). It's the last/the first hotel on the Beach, which makes it even more attractive. The team is taking excelent care of you. Be aware, that the place has no restaurant of it's own. But there are... Excellent value for money and the best place to stay in the area if you are looking for a small, personal establishment. Great setting right at the end of the beach so very peaceful. Nice gardens and love the way they've set up the comfy sun loungers on the little stone terrace and right on the sand. A good continental... More

We stayed in this lovely hotel six nights as a relaxing finish of our Madagascar trip. And what a relaxation it was: a nice and clean room with extra space on the terrace, a beautiful garden, delicous breakfast on the beach, ...Even an upset stomach at the end of our stay did not spoil this impression. On the contrary, the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For the team of the Hotel Gerard and Francine in Nosy Be, Madagascar, reception is an art and you will be received with all of our attention, treated like family; for you we offer a comfortable atmosphere, our reputation for this style of work is irrefutable and has been for the last 25 years in Nosy Be. It is a charming establishment made of modern, cozy, clean guest rooms; snuggle up between the Crater cliffs, the long beach of Ambatoloaka and its lagoon. More than the charm of the hotel here is the charm of an extraordinary garden on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Indien Ocean where you can watch the sunset. It is on this beach, each day, that the Hotel Gerard & Francine was constructed in 1988 amongst the tropical flower gardens and the palms where we enjoy the company of freedom, lemurs, hummingbirds, chameleons. One particular area of attention is providing the decoration of your rooms, using typical Malagasy architecture, traditional construction with wood floors and creole ceilings. Suggested thoughts before your visit here: The sexual tourism is an attack on human dignity, condemned by Malagasy law and International law and the Hotel Gerard et Francine does not tolerate any such violations. ... more   less
