I have regularly stayed at the Godwin's, and with the new managers arrival I have seen so much improvement in the place. The food is home cooked and very tasty. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a selection of tea, coffee and water. Highly recommended you choose The Godwin's if visiting locally.

Staying at the Godwins this evening. Just had the most delightful lasagne and my partner had the chilli. Both fantastic. We both had a starter too which were yummy as well. The room we are staying in smells lovely and the room is very cosy. Very very impressed so far ☺️

Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Decent bar menu with very good vegetarian options, (I'm not vegetarian) Good selection of draught and bottled drinks. Room was clean and comfortable. Very reasonable price. What more do you need. I'll definitely stay again.

Beautiful property, under new management from mid August so don’t rate it from earlier as it’s so lovely and the manager Kye & Supervisor Jo we’re so welcoming and warm. Nothing was too much. They are looking at providing more and have lovely plans ahead for breakfast and extending the menu etc. Talking of the menu, the food was exceptional and offer for all needs. We stayed for 3 nights and ended up eating there for 2 nights as we loved the atmosphere, especially chatting with Jo! 😊 The room was lovely & full of character in keeping with gothic history. Thank you & we will definitely be staying again!

Beautiful Gothic building, with rooms in Keeping with that theme. Rooms were very clean with a fridge and good selection of hot drinks. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing! Good old fashioned pub grub, home made on site. Would definitely recommend

The location was good for work 5 mins drive to the Whitestone Business Park. Room was adequate, with the bathroom being clean however would have been ideal if the toilet seat was not broken and led lights were working. No breakfast was available House keeping don’t clean the room whilst you stay there. BTW No staff was seen during my stay except in the night of arrival. No phone in the room Internet was terrible - had poor connection issues. Free Parking onsite was a definitely a plus point.

Place all closed when arrived...no staff...finally got in...room not bad, but no onsite food...had to lock hotel when I left, again no staff on site. Unfortunately don't think this place will last long!!

Went here for a few drinks with friends and whilst the two guys behind the bar are cheerful and chatty, the girl who also works here (housekeeper) is always hungover and slouched somewhere in the bar, looking worse for wear - I dread to think of her skills in her job looking at the state of her, and no surprises when you read reviews that guests have left re: housekeeping. Bar is small, no character, dirty and no atmosphere, and their beer prices are a joke.

Beautiful hotel with incredible historic tile work everywhere, great to see it under new management. Perfect for our work overnight but would be happy to come back for a leisure trip. Looking forward to the restaurant and bar opening up as well.
