Shalom is known in many languages to mean peace, but our stay was anything but peaceful. We happened upon this hotel by chance after a long day of driving from San Cristobal to Palenque . Relieved to find a place close to the centro and without having to "shop around", the price seemed reasonable. The hotel receptionist was friendly and...

We were at this hotel in February 2013. we were travelling with friends and got two rooms side by side on the second floor. The room was $200 pesos (which was great by the way and very nice rooms) BUT, the evening front desk staff charged us $100 for the air conditioner and $200 to our friends. When we asked...

Worst hotel and not worth the money at all- loud bar all night -Fan has only 1 setting which is so fast and loud feels like a helucopter ready to take off -No hot water as promised .total ripoff

Most people, I imagine, don't visit Palenque for the town, but as a starting point for adventures to Bonampak, Yaxchilan and the nearby Palenque ruins. My girlfriend and I needed to do some shopping jn town after seeing the sights, so we booked Hotel Shalom for a the night before taking a bus to Cuahtemoc. The room was extremely clean...
