Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked an overnight stay here as we had a Xmas party with our friends in Trusham. I had dealt with Ness, and after calling to make the booking and make payment, she emailed my invoice through, which was £89/night (inclusive of breakfast), with an additional £5 charge for the dog, which we thought was reasonable.

Upon arrival, we checked in, and were showed to our room. We then went to our friends' place for Xmas party. Returning late in the night to the room was easy enough, as we had a key to the front door. The next morning, we came down for breakfast. It was initially a cold reception and a little wait to be served (on a Sunday morning which was a bit odd), but once we were sat and ordered a cooked breakfast, everything was turned out fine.

All in, it was a nice overnight stay, and one which was adequate for our needs.

Arrived at the Cridford Inn and we were made to feel welcome immediately by the friendly staff.

Such a warm and welcoming inn, very traditional and cosy.

We stayed for 2 nights in the family room, the room was very spacious, very clean and we had everything we needed apart from only 2 towels for 3 of us, but as soon as we asked another was given straight away.

Breakfast had to be pre ordered due to covid restrictions, but nothing was too much trouble.

The food in general was of a high standard and very reasonably priced. The presentation was good and upon joining the VIP club we were also given a complimentary bottle of wine.

My only complaint was having to shut the bar at 9.45 pm.

Actually I shouldn't be telling you the truth or we won't be able to book a room after lockdown as they'll be fully booked.

But yes, love love loved it and can't wait to visit again.

Thank you so much Paul, Ness and staff for your hospitality.

We stayed at this extremely old Devon Longhouse inn and thoroughly enjoyed the old world charm of the pub and the area. The food was good with a wide enough Winter menu to eat there on both evenings. ( It has a wider menu in the Summer months apparently). The pub stocked a wide range of local beers, many gins to choose from and a fair wine list, which we liked. The locals were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was a nice cooked breakfast with juice, tea or coffee and toast. The room was quaint, clean and warm.

Had another wonderful weekend at the Cridford Inn. Four of us stayed in The Nest which was clean and comfortable - they put an extra bed in for us as we were a group of friends, which worked well and was only £10 extra per night. Breakfast was great and well worth paying for, and our evening meals were wonderful. The Venison and Pigeon were particular highlights but the cheaper options such as the Pork and Fish and Chips were very good too. A lovely bar and restaurant to come back to, with the fires roaring, after a long day walking on Dartmoor or on the Southwest Coast Path. Thank you Ness and team. See you next year!

This beautiful, atmospheric inn was a real find - tucked into the Devonshire countryside it has warmth, charm and a great restaurant.
We arrived early for check in and decided to have lunch which was delicious - John Dory to die for and I can see why their Sunday roasts are legendary!
The staff were all really friendly and attentive and everything has been laid out carefully to ensure that we all felt safe.
The room was lovely and clean with a comfy bed. Crisp clean linen and large white fluffy towels in the bathroom.
The tea tray was well stocked too!
Breakfast was very tasty and helped to top off what was definitely a very enjoyable stay.
We will be back for longer next time!

We stayed at the Cridford inn on our way back from Cornwall. We couldn’t have been more delighted. The inn is one of the oldest in Devon and probably England. Our standard double was better than most superior and deluxe rooms elsewhere.
The room was large with oakbeamed ceilings. The bathroom was very modern with a new bath and overhead shower.

We had a lovely dinner in their wonderful character dining room. Breakfast was also good.

The staff were all friendly and efficient and handled all the corona virus conditions very well so we felt very safe

Thanks a lot we will return

Due to covid and all that came with it , we unfortunately couldnt use our voucher for this inn until now . Having said that july was a much better time of year to come than when our voucher had been booked for ,so perhaps on hindsight covid done us a favour!. Without this gift we probably would never of found the Cridford Inn at Trusham..but were so glad that we have ...its nestled in the centre of a fabulous quintessentially English south Devon village steeped in history and full of beautiful homes. The inn itself dates back to 1081 and reputedly has its very own ghosts. The owners Ness and Paul are both excellent hosts and all the staff that we encountered during our stay were both friendly and helpful. The rooms are set out well and nicely decorated with ample sized ensuites, and the food is amazing! They clearly have an outstanding chef ( well done) Being a gin drinker oneself to be faced with the choice of 95 (no less) different gins was wonderful, although i really do need a longer stay to get through them all .hehe
Breakfasts included are to the very best of expectations and we felt the whole experience was value for money...mores to the point we shall be returning in the future as its so refreshing to find a hidden gem of an establishment. Added bonus was the place is dog friendly too ,so our family could remain complete during our trip away..

Amazing ancient building with comfortable room including ensuite bathroom.
The staff were most welcoming and mindful of COVID-19 precautions.
The restaurant served wholesome and copious, well cooked food.
Access is via a very scenic but very narrow road, so careful driving required!

An excellent Devon pub with the normal dodgy access (narrow lanes) you would expect but good sized car park.
Friendly greeting on arrival and shown to table. Drinks were excellent and well priced though a little slow in coming as only one person on the bar who was also doing coffee.
The pub was busy and our food arrived promptly. It was of a good standard though perhaps a little expensive for what you received.
The vegan option was delicious but small and no attempt was made to provide a vegan cauliflower cheese or alternative given the roasts came with such.
The staff were great but a little stressed as it was busy. We were asked to leave our table by the landlady after we had requested the bill but whilst we hadn’t finished our drinks in a slightly abrupt manner which whilst not being terribly professional was I guess as a result of the pub being busy.
Whilst it’s terribly difficult to estimate the staff required they should of had more to avoid the stress.
If you have a limited time on a table it should also be made clear at the time of booking. We weren’t a cheap table. Nearly £100 for two!
We did feel a little rushed from our table which is a shame as overall it’s a great pub and we would still recommend it.

Our family of 3 adults stayed here for one night as part of a mini road trip. The staff were lovely and friendly and Paul was happy to chat with us about the history of the Inn. We booked dinner in the restaurant for the night we arrived and I had the best beef bhuna curry of my life and my mum and dad had amazing fish and chips-big portions and all freshly cooked. The full English breakfast the next morning was delicious. Our room was lovely and very spacious for 3 people and plenty of parking. Thank you for a great stay.
