We stayed in the Red Kite safari tent, well-positioned in a field with only 1 other tent, lots of space and privacy, the views were beautiful. Everything you needed was in the tent even a starter pack of logs for the wood burner, we enjoyed the log fired hot tub after a hot day at the beach. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and a bonus having a small heater in the bedrooms to take the chill off before getting up. We walked down the footpath to Kidwelly a pair of sturdy waterproof boots would be ideal, waking up to the friendly cow's and horses playing was a real treat. Loads to do within the area will certainly be coming back. a real lucky find.

I often forget to write reviews, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to recommend a stay at The Big Cwtch! Our two night stay was absolutely perfect- not least of all because we got lucky with the welsh weather!
Communication with Peter and Ann was brilliant, both before and during our stay. They sent a list of things to do and recommended restaurants etc. which were really handy and we made some lovely bookings based on these.
The Big Cwtch is in a private field and has a wood burning hot tub, fire pit, hob, fridge bathroom with shower, super comfy bed and the best views!! The hut was spotlessly clean and had everything you’d need for a great stay.
The hot tub was a highlight- it takes 2 hrs to heat up as others have noted and then it is gorgeously warm! Could not think of a more perfect way to spend an evening than sitting there taking in the views with a glass of wine!
Also, if anyone was considering booking a breakfast hamper, I would highly recommend doing so- excellent value for money!! We opted for the hamper plus bacon and sausage roll and eggs, everything was delicious and the little touches of condiments and pastries were lovely!
Thank you Peter and Ann, we’re already planning our next visit!

We had a lovely two days staying in The Cwtch shepherds hut. The hot tub is an electric one now so no need to set that up.

The bed was very comfy with nice bedding.

Obviously everything is quite compact - be warned the fridge is a mini bar fridge so don’t bring too much food that needs refrigerating. We found the Tesco Extra in Carmarthen was the best place to shop. We used both the hob and cooked over the fire pit which was very successful. Salt/pepper/tea/coffee/sugar supplied. Washing up liquid and cloths/tea towels and hand towel supplied.

There was just enough wood for first night although we brought with us a bag of kindling which helped. We bought a large bag of logs from a very local farm shop for £5 for the rest of our stay.

The bathroom was obsiously tiny but nice although I would have preferred bath sheets to bath towels - so if you like to wrap a nice big towel around bring your own. There is a nice hand soap supplied but you need to take other toiletries.

We followed the guide for a walk to Kidwelly it was straightforward but be warned it was quite steep and very slippy in parts so wear some walking boots. Kidwelly Castle was impressive and we felt worth a visit. There are no shops to speak of in Kidwelly it is quite a sleepy village. We took a taxi back which cost £16 from the castle to the farm (no more than a 10 minute drive).

We very much enjoyed our stay at Kidwelly farm and it is certainly a relaxing break without sight of any of the other guests.

I booked a 3day stay as that’s was what was available. Having to cancel my abroad holiday. We wanted a family holiday. We arrived at check in time. They clearly very busy. Our teenager sleeping in downstairs bathroom was woke up so frightened at 00.30am past midnight with peter emptying the hot tub. She thought someone was trying to get in. He the. Made us feel so uncomfortable the morning of departure while he setting up hot tub for next guests. We would have had a late morn dip but unable too. For £660 3 nights I would expect to use all facilities untill check out at 10am. This is so inappropriate. The boiler is broken but was told to turn it off at night so it doesn’t bleep all night. Half bulbs out in barn. Outside area looks like broken down and unused. No cover from rain for hottub. No privacy at all. Felt like could not relax. No courtesy firewood for log fire. However was left courtesy coffee tea and welsh pancakes and waffles. The barn is modern and beds very comfortable. Actually sleeps 10 not 8. The barn is nice inside and we did enjoy as much as could do. Is everything inside you need for children but have to walk down the yard for washing machine.

My partner and I stayed in the red kite safari tent for three nights.

We couldn't have asked for a better time.
The tent was big and spacious for the two of us. We got there and Peter was in the field, he let us look round and asked if we had any questions. Then he explained how to use the hot tub and gave us a low down of the area. I didnt realise that there was a stream that ran just behind our tent! It was so listen to it when going to sleep.
.
The hut tub was amazing and we used it on our last night. Took a few hours to heat up but we went and visited the shop in town. After 2 hours it was wamish but soon heated up. It was amazing to watch the sun go down whilst relaxing in it.
Enough logs for one hit tub use but can buy extra from the farm house, it's only £5 for a huge basket so quite well priced I reckon.

The first two days the sky was overcast but on the third day, the blue sky revealed the most incredible view. It overlooked the hills and coast. Was stunning looking out on it whilst eating breakfast.

One of the evenings we wanted to go to the Red lion pub for food and drinks, but as you are in a rural area, we struggled to find a taxi. Peter stopped by the tent to see if we need more logs for the fires and we told him our evening plans. He very kindly offered to drive us there and pick us up. He definitely went above and beyond as a host and couldn't thank him enough.

Our last day we visited Pembrey Country Park and could have spent all day there. Food isn't bad and played a round of mini golf. The beach goes on for miles. Then we realised that the beautiful beach is what we can see from our tent!!

If you're looking to visit the south of Wales this is the place to go!! We would love to return next year.

Had some super stays at Kidwelly Farmhouse over the summer! You can always be assured of a warm welcome, hearty delicious breakfast and really comfortable and clean spacious rooms in a wonderful rural location. The walks from the farm are stunning as is the location. Highly recommended!

Fab stay, definitely do it again. Provided most of everything. Only a certain amount of logs, firestarters and newspapers provided, enough for one night, so the owners do sell more in the farmhouse if needed, as these are for the hot tub & fire, coal will need to be brought with you. We got to see the animals, they have table tennis, trampoline and picnic area with tree swing. All in all a lovely place, so peaceful, a great place to have a think & get away from the world. The only downside is there wasn't any fire extinguishers, considering there was a lot of fire making & no overhead cover if you wanted to go in the hot tub in the rain or no lighting around hot tub if wanting to go in late, but they do provide swing ball and football in the tent. Board games are also provided. Lovely & cosy when fire is lit.

Communication prior to and during our one night stay was excellent. We received clear route directions and very useful information about the area.
The farmhouse and garden were very picturesque and well kept. Ample parking was available.
Our nice, airy attic room was delightful, clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed.
The compact bathroom provided a large walk in shower and all the appropriate towels etc.
The inclusion of a small fridge and microwave could prove very useful for longer stays. We were provided with tea/coffee etc and some lovely biscuits.
Our hosts were friendly and helpful and provided a lovely cooked breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We would definitely stay again if in the area and can thoroughly recommend

We stayed here for 1 night for an event we were attending nearby. It was a beautiful place, the farm setting was so tranquil, waking up to the views across the fields was fantastic! I only wish we had more time to spend exploring the farm and local area. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I’m vegetarian and had some delicious fresh farm eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms & beans with toast with ‘proper’ coffee. My travel companion also had sausage and bacon and it all looked fantastic. There was also an array of yoghurts, cereal and fruit to choose from.

My only word of warning would be if you are tall, be careful in the loft rooms. Room was absolutely faultless, but being 6ft 2 my head did have a run in with a wooden beam in the middle of the night 🤣. Entirely my fault but something to be mindful of if tall. Regardless of this I would happily stay again in a heartbeat the next time I’m in the local area. Would not hesitate to friends looking for accommodation in the area.

Couldn't have asked for a better 3 nights at the Big Cwtch, Peter was very welcoming and helpful in showing us how everything worked and how to get the hot tub going - the tub was an absolute highlight of the stay! The hut was spotless and had everything you needed. Plenty of towels for the 2 of us and tea, coffee, basic cooking bits (salt, pepper). We cooked on the hob once which was all fine - there's a 2 ring induction hob and a small fridge. We made use of the fire pit for toasting marshmallows and the wood burner inside. The spot is super private with wonderful views of the gower and some beautifully friendly neiiighhh-bours (bad pun..!!). We can't wait to return to this special spot for some more time away from busy city life. Thank you Ann & Peter!
