What a little gem we have found.
We had an excellent room with views over the beautiful beer garden. The room itself has a very comfortable 4 poster bed with lovely bed linen. TV, leather couch, dressing table and large wardrobe, lovely good quality curtains that keep the sun out early in the morning. The bathroom is large, loads of hot water. The room was very clean and the standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the whole building is excellent and COVID compliant.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had food here every night of our stay including Sunday lunch. All food was delicious, well presented and competitively priced. Breakfast is included in the price and is delicious. It's restaurant is very popular so you must book.
I would especially like to thank all the staff for their help and consideration for my very elderly parents when we took them for Sunday lunch.
We will definitely stay here again

In celebrating an extended family gathering we were keen that it was hosted really well. It was perfect. Keri and the team worked hard to ensure that everything went well. The staff looked after us well, and the food was delicious, catering for a wide variety of tastes. We were made to feel so welcome and completely at home. I shall treasure the family photo taken outside the Leather Bottle.

We visited a friend during 17 - 20 July 2022, and we were fortunate enough to find a room at The Leather Bottle at Cobham, Kent, where we both wished we had longer to explore this historical quintessential English village. There are so many places to see. The enchantment begins at the hotel itself , as you step into the black and white building and one of Dickens books- this is where he actually stayed and wrote some of them, and in the dining room you can see his old leather brief case which carried his papers. The nooks and crannies and shelves, the wood panelled rooms and walls bear testament to his visits. We were lucky enough to share a breakfast with a lady, Rachel, who had played in the Leather Bottle as a child and she wove magical stories about the characters who have inhabited both these rooms and the village. In fact it became the Leather Bottle when one was found buried in the walls during renovation. You can feel the age of the building but this adds to the enchantment and the friendly helpful staff go out of their way to make your visit relaxed and comfortable. The food was excellent with a good choice of menu, catering also to both vegan and vegetarian diners.. A large beautifully tended garden has a huge outside dining or drinks area for those hot summer days and evenings.
Our bedroom was large with a window in the bathroom, a luxury now, and a window in the bedroom overlooking the 11th century Norman church (Don’t hold me to this, come and explore for yourself).
Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
I only gave it four stars because it was not perfect but then we dont mind sloping and crooked floors and a bit of magic buried in the walls.

Stayed from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th September whist we visited Rochester and Chatham Dockyard.
The bedroom and bathroom were a bit tired and there was room for improvement in regards to cleanliness, for example I found a stocking behind the bin in the bedroom, used shower gel bottle in the bathroom and behind the bed was really dusty, however bedding, towels etc were spotless.
There was some road noise, but this was to be expected due to the proximity of the road and the ancient windows.
Other than this there were no more negatives.
The building is absolute beautiful, there is a bar area, restaurant area, and a snug area.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
We ate in the restaurant on the first night on the first night and in the bar on the second night. Both times the food was amazing, and again the service was friendly.
We also sampled some of the cocktails, they were great.
Breakfast consisted on cereal, toast and a full English, all of which were nicely cooked.
The atmosphere in The Leather Bottle was great and we will definitely be staying there again.
Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Rude staff and slow service.
Took a deposit for an 8-person meal, Lock down occurred, and they said they would honour it in the future. When we returned, they didn’t honour the deposit and was rude to boot!
Starters didn’t arrive for 45min, but the food was good.
All in all, came away feeling annoyed and disappointed.

Really shocked that you chose to go to a social media platform to lie. Not just 1 but them all... Firstly let’s clarify that the deposit you mentioned was taken back in 2021 for a Christmas booking, There was NO LOCKDOWNS in December merely advice from the government that lead you to make the decision to cancel the reservation. Much of the stock we ordered for Xmas meals we were therefore unable to use and was wasted, Despite this, we as a small business were still generous enough when you and others called and cancelled to carry the deposits over to January as a goodwill gesture despite this leaving us at a loss. When we spoke to you on the phone we explained it was till the end of January/ February at latest…. NOT INDEFINITE, you was also sent an email reminder to encourage you to get it book up ASAP. Your visit today was absolutely fine until you had realised you made an error (not us!) by not booking up in time … , no one was rude to you or an of your party as i myself was on the floor with my team and you was very well looked after. All your party didn’t arrive at the same time and your food is cooked fresh, as we had over 90 guest in at lunch service i find that your complaint about the wait puzzlingly to be honest. But as your review popped up literally minutes after you left i guess you didn’t think things through, but at least we get to set the record straight here.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch today but it was very disappointing, we had roast beef which was ok but potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were definitely bought in, you would expect more for £15.95 per head. We stayed here in August for one night and the breakfast was excellent so we decided to drive here for lunch today. To be honest the staff were lovely as was the service but food was bad.

This pub seems to be going downhill which is a shame. Tacky paintings have replaced the original decor and the laughing girl pictures over the urinals are very naff.
The menu is puzzle. No lunch options, no 'lite bites' just a splatter of random over priced mains and very expensive tapas.
I settled for Albondigas and chips as a lunch option. The meatballs were nice enough in a pleasant tomato sauce. The chips of the standard frozen variety.
It was ok.
This pub used to do lovely roast beef sandwiches, a great mixed grill. Good food that made sense in a place that featured in the Pickwick papers in one of Englands oldest villages.
Now it's like a new town bistro trying to cater to a customer base that probably isn't there.

Beautiful food and great service to compliment it, would highly recommend trying one of their cocktails they really are outstanding. Can’t wait to go back in the summer for another one. I will be definitely recommending this place to my friends and family.

Awful, like something out of a time warp. Chips edible and dogs loved the sausages! That’s the nicest we can be! Fish platter inedible, garlic bread like nothing I’ve seen before a piece of bread with garlic butter half melted on? kids sausage and mash completely cold, not gone cold but fridge cold in the middle. Bad and avoid this place. It’s is a shame as great little pub in a wonderful location and that alone along with some loyal customers is why they are busy x service great friendly and efficient, we advised the manager of our thoughts and he offered no incentive to return.

We called in here for a few drinks after lunch at a local "dry" cafe, we would have stayed for dinner but had a pre-arranged engagement elsewhere. The menu for food and bar snacks looked great and the meals we did see were impressive,
The wine list looked good and we ceratinly enjoyed our time under a very large marquee in the large lawned area to the rear. I am sure they could accomodate a very large group if required.
