I just wanted to say how much my family and I enjoyed our stay with yourselves. The staff were friendly and professional, just a pleasure from the moment we stepped into the hotel to the moment we left. We are in the lounge bar which again was perfect and the food was tasty. The room itself was fantastic, the bunk beds pleased the two children no end. Some lovely extras in the room, bottled water still and sparking (bit hit with myself) hand made soap and biscuits. The bed was huge and comfortable. We had the continental breakfast, the toast which was presented to us was lovely fresh bread, not what you would get at your local premier inn. For the price I paid for staying for the evening and the extras we got was a fantastic price especially for NYE. Without a shadow of a doubt we’ll be back some time later in the year.

Thank you for making us see the new year in a pleasurable one.

I stopped here for one night on way back from Scotland after new covid restrictions closed my original destination, and was very impressed. Room was spacious, comfortable & practical with good lighting for reading, plugs/mirrors in all hi: smoked duck starter was one of the nicest I've had for a long time, and lamb main melted in the mouth. Breakfast maintained the standard, with piping hot toast & perfectly-cooked scrambled eggs. Surroundings are quiet & attractive despite proximity of motorway. I would definitely stop here again. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could: it's not a "top-class" holiday destination, but for the style of hotel it is, I think it deserves close to 5 stars.

We have stayed at the Westmorland Hotel several times recently to break up our frequent long journeys between the West coast of Scotland and the Midlands or South West England. With each successive visit it feels like coming home......that "aaaaaaah.....and relax" factor. The rooms are perfectly equipped, super comfortable and so well sound-proofed that you forget there is a motorway nearby.
For us, the big bonus is the fact that it's dog friendly with great walks and an exercise field next door.....our two dogs have already settled into their Tebay routine and chill out immediately. The food is delicious - both for evening meals and breakfast and the B&B rate is highly competitive and value for money.
The staff are ALL so friendly and efficient and make us feel like returning friends at each visit. A special thank you to Sue on the bar who always takes good care of us and remembers just what we like. We would like to move in please!! Really looking forward to the next time! Thank you.

Fabulous place! Room was lovely and cozy with comfy beds and little extras like refillable still and sparkling water, shortbread, fresh milk delivered on request, clean towels every day, spacious and lovely views. We also ate in the restaurant every night of our 3 night stay. The menu was fine dining at reasonable prices and was delicious. The breakfast was also very good and worth going for a room rate including breakfast. We had a standard twin on the first floor but there are upgrades available to a craft room. The location is perfect for exploring the Lakes and Dales and you can get from southbound to northbound services via a back road so no having to drive miles to next exit to get back to the hotel which is located off of the northbound M6. Tebay services is a few minutes walk away and open 24 hours if you need anything after the restaurant closes. The hotel itself is a great design, it felt like being in a ski lodge! The bar has an open fire and is a great place to relax after dinner. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and a big thank you to one of the housekeepers, Andrea, who put a few of my clothes through the washing machine after a muddy fall and hung them up in the bathroom while we were out! This stay was great value for money and better than many much more expensive hotels I’ve stayed in. All locally sourced food and goods, great attention to detail and care has been taken to make this place fabulous! I can’t wait to return and highly recommend, not just as a stop off but as a destination.

My husband and I have been to the Lake District in the past staying in central locations such as Windermere and Grasmere, however they are extremely busy all year round. So, we heard of the Westmoreland through the TV series on Tebay and decided to give it a try for a couple of nights. From the onset we were welcomed by friendly reception staff Derek and upgraded to a Craft Room for a modest fee. The room was lovely and well equipped and very relaxing. The Housekeeping Manager was so considerate at our request for duck feather free bedding. The hotel bar run by Sue was great and the meals and breakfast in the beautiful restaurant were very high quality and much better than some restaurants here in Edinburgh. Di looked after us in the restaurant and we had lovely tables overlooking the pond and hills. This is a very homely but lovely lay out and managed by professional and friendly team including the younger staff make this place. It was a great base to revisit some parts of the Lakes we had been to and some we had not. You can reach these beauty spots easily and come back to a quiet place where you can relax, wine, dine and sleep and park! We managed to fill our Cool Box with lovely produce from the Farm Shop before we left. Will certainly recommend and be back anytime we are travelling down Cumbria way. Thanks!

We booked a Crafted Plus room and got room 61 on the second floor, towards the end of the corridor, with gorgeous views over the fells. The room had a near double height ceiling which made it feel spacious and was tastefully decorated in local materials and muted colours. Comfortable bed, table, desk, sofa, kettle etc. Large bathroom with separate bath and shower. WiFi good and loads of sockets by the bed and elsewhere. Only slight disappointment was that there was no fridge.
Breakfast was excellent as well: full English - bacon eggs sausage tomato mushroom with juices etc on buffet

An excellent location to break the journey between Devon and The Hebrides.
We stayed in a Crafted Room on this visit and felt the small extra charge was worth it. Comfortable beds with nice linen gave a very good nights sleep.
We had dinner in the restaurant. Excellent food at a reasonable price for the quality.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Recently we spent a night here to break the journey from London to the Cairnryan Ferry Terminal. This is most certainly not your average motorway hotel! It is a purpose built premises which has been landscaped to take advantage of its surroundings. We arrived on a wet and windy night at the end of October ’20 to enter a warm reception area. Our room was on the ground floor and was excellent – the en-suite was one of the best we have had. All was scrupulously clean with toiletries sourced locally. We had a delightful dinner and a comfortable overnight. A beautiful breakfast was taken next morning in the dining room which overlooked a waterfall fed pond – complete with ducks! We enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit.

We stayed twice on the way to and from Scotland and had rooms 61 and 63, both Crafted Plus rooms on the second floor. Very comfortable room. There was no refresh service but they left a bag with towels, tea and coffee and loo roll outside every day, so not really a problem. The Wi-Fi was mostly good.
Breakfast was a good full English, with tasty bacon and an excellent sausage, but the quantities of food varied daily!
We ate in the restaurant just the once, at a nice window table. Orders were taken promptly and we shared the bread and chive butter/olive oil to start then had the burger and Herdwick lamb with dauphinoise potatoes: the lamb was delicious, the burger good. With two Tirrell's beers and a small Pinot Grigio the bill was £56

Hi Christine, Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit to our hotel. Regarding room refresh this is something we haven't done since reopening after COVID lockdowns. We can do this if requested, but as you say, in substitute we supply a refresh bag to all our guests staying over more than one night. We do look forward to welcoming you on your next visit north or south. All the best, Glenn

As my Bro-in-law and his wife were using this as a stop over on their long journey down from N. Scotland to London, they invited us to join up with them for a meal and chat. A table was reserved for us in the lounge and Daphne, our waitress, was attentive and efficient. Drinks were served quickly and our meals followed soon after. They were delicious and filling though one was, of course, paying hotel restaurant prices e.g. £14.50 for haddock, chunky chips, mushy peas with tartare sauce, the latter being particularly flavoursome compared to some I've had which were very bland. My only problem, as I am disabled, is that, being in the lounge, the settees were low as was the large coffee table and thus one had to resort to eating my meal on my lap. They clearly wanted us to stay as, after our meal, a waiter asked if we would like to see the menus. Oops! He was supposed to be asking another table and was full of apologies for having made the mistake. There has been much debate about whether one can get from the N'bound to S'bound services. There is no debate. You can, and the route is even signposted. from the hotel.
