Stayed here as part of a university biology field trip - amazing place with extremely friendly staff and local villagers. The food was also great and the gardens are full of birds - a perfect place to disconnect from the rest of the world and be at peace.

I'm a university student and stayed here for an ecology fieldwork trip. The staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating, they went above and beyond to provide lovely, fresh food and comfy, clean rooms. If you're thinking of staying here for a birdwatching holiday you won't regret it!

Morgan Kunda is a wonderful place, offering great food, super-friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. It's a real gem located on the edge of the small village of Jajari and near the beautiful Bao Belong wetlands. We went on boat trips organised by the lodge and saw crocodiles, finfoot, and loads of herons and kingfishers. Along the savanna roads by the lodge there are plenty of great bird species to see, including bustards, birds of prey, as well as patas monkeys, while the lodge itself is visited by lots of photogenic species. Thoroughly recommended.

Such a contrast to places like Tendaba. The place was basic but clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. Everyone seemed to be fully committed to delivering a high quality service and this was clear at all levels, front line staff to top management. Food was excellent. Would certainly go again and recommend to others.

Clean, comfortable and friendly. Great food and wonderful happy staff. MK lodge manager Bakari explained that their aim is to put money into helping the village of Jajari b, for instance,y paying for children's school clothes, helping with their education, employing and training local staff and they hope to build a village medical centre too. A great example of how local businesses can help local people while also helping visitors to enjoy the wildlife of the Gambia.

It is lovely to see you had such an enjoyable stay with us 309garyp! You are right, the aim for Morgan Kunda Lodge is to support Jarjari village and The Lodge is staffed by local villagers. We want to offer employment opportunities to the people of the North Bank of The Gambia so they can stay local rather than having to work many, many miles away from their families.

Gambia has been a birders winter paradise for a long time so a new lodge opening in the Bao Balong wetland area is bound to be good news. This lodge while still in its early stages offers a very good extension to the coastal lodges and an alternative to some of the river lodges whose standards reportedly have dropped. The area is fast becoming a mecca for naturalists of all persuasions, not just birders, with a diverse and interesting set of habitats around it. All coupled with very friendly and helpful local people. The local school and village benefit directly from stays at the lodge via the managing charity, which is the way eco-tourism must grow

This is a great place to stay - Lodges are very clean as is the whole place. The staff are the friendliest kindest people, they looked after you and make sure you have all you need. One lady cleaned some clothes for us too.. The food was fab too. We had a great experience, visiting the school and another village. It is a very relaxing place to be. I would certainly recommend visiting here even if you are not a bird watcher. Would certainly return again.

We just loved staying in this wonderful place and as others have said it’s clean which is unusual for the north bank...the little lodges were just lovely with everything you need to make your stay comfortable...the staff are second to none always smiling and happy and helpful ...one of the ladies even washed a top out for me and returned it clean dry and ironed....the food was delicious and served by the beautiful ladies all immaculately dressed in matching outfits which were different at every meal time. I am not a birdwatcher but I really enjoyed relaxing in the lookout and seeing all the beautiful birds and wildlife ...we visited jarjari school which is just close by and that was amazing to see ...everyone is just so happy and relaxed in this place I look forward to returning and I may even become a birdwatcher ..there are so many plans for Morgan Kunda It’s a great place now but I think it’s just going to get better and better ......

Whether you are a bird watcher or just someone who enjoys spending some time in the peace and quiet, this lodge is a super place to stay. The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff friendly and welcoming, and the food fresh, tasty and plentiful. It is a good base to use for daily or half daily bird spotting trips. The viewing platform was an absolute pleasure, with comfy seats and the staff were willing to serve our meals there too. This lodge was by far the best that we stayed in during our trip, and I have no reservations in recommending it to others. I strongly believe that it will soon become the preferred lodge in this region. We have the upmost respect for the work of the Morgan Clark Foundation, and are very happy to be able to support their efforts in a small way.

Even though we only stayed one night we got the true flavour of this Lodge. Phil Morgan has done an excellent job of making Morgan Kunda Lodge one of the must go to places in The Gambia. Even if you are not a bird watcher this would be a wonderful place to spend a few days. The accommodations which were spacious are excellent, the food outstanding and staff is as good as any in a five star hotel. I loved the fact that we paid for our drinks on the honour system. The aim is to achieve standards at Morgan Kunda that equal or exceed those of the hotels on the coast, which he has succeeded to do in our opinion. Any profits are used by the Morgan Clark Foundation to support the schools and health care facilities in the area. Oh by the way the birding is excellent in the area and the lodge has a viewing platform that overlooks the fields behind the lodge.
