Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The photos do not do this place justice! Our Scout Troop and Venturer Company stayed here for 3 nights and the accommodations were exceptional. None of us wanted to leave. I had an excellent experience working with David when I rented out the entire establishment for our group. He was very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and David provided us with bread, meat, and cheese so we could pack lunch for our tour days.

We were welcomed with a slice of homemade apple tart & coffees. The breakfast was the BEST we have ever had, served at a long table, at a time to suit your busy holiday routine . The facilities were very well maintained. The owners spoke very good English & were very helpful with information on local attractions, including restaurants, monuments, local markets etc Plenty of parking & in a very quiet location within a short drive to many local villages.

What a fantastic place to stay, set in some beautiful countryside. Sat out in the evening sun with a few beers from the honesty bar listening to the birds after visiting WW1 sites. The Room was very clean and spacious with a decent sized bathroom. I really enjoyed the breakfasts with something a little different every day and all local produce, The home baked bread is really nice. Our host David is very kind and knowledgeable about the war and local ared. The museum on the farm is a added bonus too full of items found on the farm and is worth a look. We Was able to park the motorcycles under cover at night times. Thank you David and Dirk for the help with my motorcycle after it had broken down. I will definitely be back and look forward to visiting again.

So glad I spotted the mention of Varlet Farm in The Times last year. First class accommodation if you are touring the Ypres Salient, actually in Passchendaele and very close to Tyne Cot, the best museum (Passchendaele Memorial Museum - a must). David is an excellent host. Our rooms on the ground floor were spacious and well appointed. The "honour bar" was stacked with Belgian beers and red and white wine, with coffee and tea making facilities provided. Excellent breakfast with everything, including bolied eggs, fresh baked bread, home made jams, cereals, cold meats, cheeses and even Belgian chocolate on offer. Guests are encouraged to make their packed lunch from the goodies provided - cling film ready on the table! Excellent location. David will make your evening restaurant reservations if requested.

Just returned from a 4 day stay at the farm and as always a fantastic stay David the new host is fantastic nothing was too much trouble for him. The breakfast as always was amazing. The best place to stay for those visiting the battlefields. Not to forget the legend that is Dirk who is still around the farm for a chat.and a catchup in between his farming.

Very quaint B&B with a lot of history surrounding WWI. Only about a 10 min drive to Ypres and numerous other war sites (we explored the Canadian sites!). The beds are comfy, rooms spacious, nice bathrooms, everything was clean and feels well curated to an optimal experience for the guests. Breakfast was diverse with a lot of local and homemade products. They encourage you to pack left overs for your lunch. There is a beer/wine fridge with local drinks for a very reasonable price. The owner is very knowledgeable about the history of the area, and will provide you with plenty of interesting facts. He checked in on us enough to make sure we had everything we needed without imposing. Amazing host! We were also given a coupon book for some discounts at local museums. This is a 10/10 accommodation!!

We stayed for one night in two triple rooms and a double. The accommodation was spotless, well furnished with everything you could need. We enjoyed spending a few hours after our day out in the lounge area with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate and loved the idea of the honestly bar if we wanted another drink. Breakfast was superb. Homemade bread, jam and local cheese and ham, warm eggs, cereals, yogurts with juice and hot drinks. As it was coming up to Easter there were also bowls of chocolate slabs and mini Easter eggs which the kids loved. I loved that there was cling film to make sandwiches for lunch aswell. We were made to feel so welcome when we arrived and all enjoyed our homemade apple pie. Can not wait to come back!!
