Unfortunately we were unable to stay as planned with Kemal and Jamila as planned due to a flood from a neighbouring property. They went out of their way to ensure we had somewhere suitable to stay, but we missed the experience of staying in a Berber Village, and consequently shortened our planned stay in the area. Nevertheless Kamal went out of his way to ensure our stay was as positive as possible in the circumstances, with him collecting us, so that we could eat with the family as planned each evening. Jalila is delightful, and also a super cook! Her dishes were much appreciated. We were given a tour of their authentically furnished accommodation, which sadly cannot be used by anyone until the necessary formal inspection visits and written permissions had been issued by the relevant authorities.

Two of us stayed with Kamal and had a wonderful trip. He and his wife were brilliant hosts - the food was fantastic, the room spotless and lovely and the walk in the mountains nearby brilliant. Definitely a place i would recommend.

We had an absolutely fantastic 5 days at Dar Kamal. The place is just gorgeous with old traditional features and lots of colours. It was a great antidote to the busy-ness of Fez. Kamal is a passionate, incredibly knowledgeable guide and we loved all the tours we did with him: the animal market in Azrou, The Jewish Tour of Sefrou, History Tour of Bhalil… we had the best time!

Jaleela's cooking during our three night stay provided world-class breakfasts, soups, tagines and deserts. Amazing. Other reviews have highlighted Kamal's engaging, informative and interesting tours and conversations making a very memorable stay in a family setting in a traditional village. Mint tea on the patio was a final positive note.

I spent a few days in this house in the little village of Bhalil. Great experience and wonderful excursions to the surrounding villages of Sefrou or Guigou among others. Don't miss the Sundays market of Guigou. Kamal makes this a great experience with his great knowledge of the area. 100% recommended!

We decided to stop by Bhalil on our way from Fes to Merzouga because we read online that it might be worth a stop. What was initially intended to be a quick stop for a few minutes, turned into an unforgettable several hour experience. As I searched online for what to see in this town, I came across Kamal's contact information and decided to give him a call - and that's where the adventure began! Kamal is a very unique individual - unlike anyone I have ever met. He exudes kindness and intelligence. Although he denies this, I see him as the unofficial mayor of Bhalil. He spent several hours showing me around the town, explaining its history, and telling me stories about all the inhabitants we passed. He genuinely loves this town and is on a mission to restore it and put it on the map as a prime destination, as well as improve the lives of everyone living in it! Although I didn't stay overnight at his guesthouse, he brought me in and introduced me to his family and served tea and snacks. Would love to stay there next time! Meeting Kamal and walking around Bhalil was one of the highlights of my trip! I wish I could have brought Kamal to be my tour guide and friend for my entire Morocco trip. Highly recommend visiting and meeting Kamal - you will not be disappointed!

We are so glad our Moroccan travel advisor recommended a stay at Kamal’s guesthouse. Our day tour of Sefrou and Bhalil with Kamal was to share in his passion and extensive knowledge of this beautiful area. It was only further complimented by our overnight stay in his guesthouse where we were treated like a member of the family at Dar Kamal Chaoui. Sharing a wonderful, home-prepared meal by his excellent cook Naima and learning about Moroccan culture and history while seated around the table with his wife Jalila is a memory we will hold fondly in our hearts. The guesthouse and rooms are filled with beautiful crafts of wood and art and are very comfortable. An experience all should seek to experience true Moroccan countryside hospitality!
