We stayed for 5 nights and were upgraded to a fantastic suite on the 26th floor with views of Sydney of 270 degrees having a corner position. We could watch the cruise liners come and go from our bed or bath and this experience made the hotel for me. The Harbour Club was very pleasant with a very good breakfast... More

We stayed for 4 nights in a lovely big Harbour view room on the 26th floor with fantastic views overlooking the harbour, opera house & bridge, this is an upmarket hotel in a great location with easy access to both the harbour front and less busy rocks area. The hotel has a bar and restaurant on the top floor with... More

The room and building, the lobby looks tired, desperate for refurbishing, unlike the grand lobby of Shangri La that I have stayed (Jakarta, Penang Rasa Sayang, Shangri La Kuala Lumpur, Singapore). It is walking distance from the train station (up hill), Sydney Harbour etc. The room is pretty small but with a view of Sydney Harbour. The morning buffet breakfast... More

The Shangi-la has always been a bit of a enigma to me. I stayed there many moons ago when it was nearly new and called the ANA hotel and remember it as being luxurious and modern but because of it's slightly out of the way location (it's actually physically close to everything but very hard to access unless you like... Spent a night at the Shangri-La Sydney. The rooms and the hotel itself were beautiful - definitely recommend the Horizon Club for its stunning views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful.

My husband and I recently stayed in the hotel in a horizon club opera house view and it was very special! The room and the views are just amazing! We had access to the horizon club lounge and the staff were so nice and attentive , nothing was too difficult ! We had afternoon tea and evening canapés in the... More

If you're looking for a hotel that offers a little bit of luxury in a great location then this is definitely the place to stay! We booked for our honeymoon based on great reviews and it lived up to all our expectations. We requested a Grand Sydney Harbour View room which is exactly what we got. We were greeted by... More

Check in was smooth and efficient and even though we arrived early, our room was ready for us, plus we received an upgrade to a higher floor. We were delighted with the stunning view from our 29th floor room. However, there is so much to do in Sydney that we were hardly in our room, but each time I entered... More

I really wanted to like this hotel but we just had too many problems during our 3 night stay that shouldn't happen at a hotel of this caliber. When we arrived the room we were given still had the cleaners dirty rags in it and wasn't fully cleaned. We were later told the cleaner got called away half-way through and... More

Great location just up from the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay. It is a MUST that you get a Taxi ( which may prove difficult ) as we were advised by two Taxi drivers "it's not worth our trouble " The walk is up a very steep hill and when ladened with luggage is extremely arduous. The Horizon Club... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
