The room was relatively clean but old and badly decorated. Bathroom tiles had been painted over and the paint was peeling off them. That I could deal with as I only needed a place to sleep as I was doing a course for the weekend in the CBD. When arriving back at around 10.30 after going out for dinner, my...

With an acute shortage of hotel rooms in Sydney last week, and unreasonably high tariffs, I decided to bite the bullet and go budget. Big mistake! While this hotel is listed at three star, and may well fit the requirements of a three star hotel, my budget hotel stay was a complete disaster. I can put up with a complete...

As an ex Sydney resident I should have known better but booked without reading reviews. The good bits - not many - nice Asian guy who I believe is the owner took me to the room - the price at $129.00 for Saturday night only is good for Sydney and the hotel is very central. Reading so many bad reviews...

False advertising. The hotel does not look like the photos advertised at all. I regret didnt read all the reviews before i booked the hotel. After i checked in i was told my room was at the back of the block. No elevators. Key card to the main entrance and door. Through out the day i could see shady people...

Do not be fooled by the glamourous photos this place has had its day! Maybe 10 or 15 years ago it would have been great but steer clear these days. Upon entering the service was fine prompt and clear. The main problem was with the room I had The The halls ways were dirty, stains on the carpets, walls and...

Rooms very poor and dirty, iPad was stolen from my room, staff were not bothered just said it wasn't anybody who worked there. Went to the police station and they said they have received many complaints of stolen items from this hotel. Avoid at all costs

Not particularly well organised... Not exactly clean.. definitely not worth what we payed for it. We booked a "Grand Suite" and had to sit sideways on the toilet it was that close to the wall. There was a half drunken coke bottle in the fridge of the room when we arrived. The paint on the tiles was peeling off and...

On arrival at 7.00pm we had to ring a mobile and wait for "the Manager" to arrive, this took 20 minutes, there were two others couples waiting as well. Now the room " the best balcony room they had " There was no balcony furniture! The door was insecure and other rooms had access felt very unsafe. The tv was...

Its a budget hotel so i didnt walk in with any great expectations. Room was dirty with all the walls scuffed and a terrible yellow stain on the floor, looked like a kebab deposited on the floor after a big night out. Television had no power or antenna cables and the air con didn't work, went downstairs to 'reception' and...

We arrived to check in at 4:40pm to be told we were being "upgraded" and the room wasn't ready and they would call us no later than half hour when it was ready- they never called an hour later we went back there (we have a 3 year old so didn't want to be too late). Upon getting back there...

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
