Stayed here with the family for a couple nights for abit of a getaway from work with border closures/travel restrictions around the world stressing the world out.
After a few mishaps which were totally unacceptable and quite embarrasing cause i had my family with me but just in general for the hotel with cleaning issues in the room (which i wont post the photos and explain) and a couple room changes due to it the manager made then sure that the rest of the stay was good and was offered credit as a gift due to the problem which was sorted in the end but was a stern message to the cleaners that you get paid to do a job..do it right wether you like it or not its your job otherwise find another one!

The beds were very comfortable and very snug for the family which everyone enjoyed the comfort of the bedding and the features to ensure a goodnights sleep especially the electric blinds(always loved there here).
Bath room was clean and very good showering options with exceptipnal hotwater and the options of two diffrent shower head options

Was great to have to breakfast at sokyo included on the booking which they offered exceptional breakfast options and delicious options which i reviewed on the sokyo review with pics included

The room serviced ordered was quite exceptional and delicious with plenty on the plates to fill everyones belly up.
The dengakuman (miso glazed toothfish) was cooked very well and is one of my faviroute fish to eat so quite enjoyed it.

The beer battered king george fish and chips was a fuel packing amount of food on the plate to share around in the end and was very nice and deliciously cooked right with the chips too.

The free range chicken breast was average tho the chicken itself was abit dry but was eaten none the less

The yang chou fried rice was a good add on to the order very big amount of rice and very good tasting and filling meal

The casino and the pool at the time had some restrictions at the time due to covid-19 which is pure standard at that time atm so its a shame the pool amd spa was closed which did offer good city view and the casino restrictions have just made it that your only allowed to gamble in 1 of the 4 zone in a 24hour period which i did agree with on a safety point of view but there is signage that will tell you at the zones what tables there offering if you have a certain choice and will be temperature checked upon entry and will have to sanitise hamds and wipe and sanitise your chips if you move around tables which once again is a good idea

All in all after a rocky start the rest of the stay was comfortable and enjoyable with friendly customer service at reception to help us with any enquries that we had to .ale the stay as cosy as possible

Stayed here for 2 nights and extremely pleased by the luxury of the refurbished rooms. The window bench seat was a good addition to the room however it’s rock hard and not somewhere to sit and relax. Needs some seating in the room.
Rooms are newly renovated however bathroom vanity still had the old discoloured marble bench which does not look on par with the rest of the room.
Strange smell also came from toilet a few times during my stay which I didn’t raise with reception however went away after you flushed a couple of times.
Staff need training as the staff member at check in failed to acknowledge what inclusions my room had - I had to ask about parking and was simply directed to the valet at the door - still failed to advise how it works. Next I had to ask about the breakfast (included in my rate) and was advised it’s either in room or in restaurant. However when I asked later I was told it was only in restaurant and would be charged for room.

Good idea to remove buffet breakfast during Covid However the restaurant for breakfast is useless. Unless you want Asian breakfasts the only option for Aussie’s is eggs on toast (very small serving costing $38!). Not even a continental breakfast option in the restaurant. You need to provide people with the option of room service for breakfast that is included (many more options for breakfast)

My wife and I attended a preview, Sunday matinee session of the musical, "Hamilton" at the Lyric Theatre, situated within the Star complex at Darling Harbour. We had made an online booking to the Star Grand Hotel and obtained a "Starter Summer Staycation" Package for 1 night for $219. On arrival at the hotel, we found a huge queue of people and I decided to leave our small case in the lobby storage and return after the show, to check into our room. That proved to be the best thing to do and that is when we met Jake at reception. Jake displays best practice customer service and he appears to be the star at the Star's reception. He made our check in a pleasure and gave us a great room, as well. We obtained a room on the 8th floor that looked towards the City and we could see the skyline of all the buildings from the new Crown Casino to the Southern end of the city. We also looked down at the outside swimming pool and grass roof of the complex. Our king size bed was soft and comfortable, we had a huge clear picture colour TV in front of our bed and the water in the shower was hot and plentiful. On arrival in the room, I saw that we only had one bathrobe in the cupboard, so I called Housekeeping to get another one. A bathrobe was delivered to our room, within 10 minutes. That is very efficient service. A great place to be on a dark and stormy weekend. We ate our dinner in the "Food Quarter" Restaurant in the Casino on level 1 and our breakfast at the "Antidote Café", on the ground floor, just outside the south western entrance to the complex. We had a great time at this hotel, so a stay at the the Star Grand Hotel is highly recommended.

We stayed 2 nights at The Star Grand Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Despite the car park being a little hard to find, we were greeted by efficient & friendly valet staff who charge $55 p/n, which for Sydney is quite good.
Check-in was quick as was our bags to our room. The rooms are spacious with a large king size bed & 55 inch TV. The bathroom is a little small & poorly designed, with the shower tap & amenities shelf a long way from the shower head, which can make showering a bit cumbersome.
The room is extremely quiet & the beds super comfortable. The Hotel location is close to the darling Harbour restaurants & a 10 min scenic stroll to the CBD.
In all we had an enjoyable stay with the highlight being the comfortable beds & friendly staff & would recommend it for anybody wanting to stay in Sydney.

We had a week's stay at the 3 BR Apartment of the Residences block. The welcome was warm upon check-in and access to the Residences was from a separate elevator.

The Living Room was roomy and was well equipped with a pull out fridge all the necessary utensils. A Nespresso machine was also available with capsules but they would not top up extra capsules as they were chargeable.

Overall cleanliness levels were excellent although it took a rather long time to respond to any request we had. We ended up requesting for whatever we wanted in the morning before leaving just to allow for this. Often asking for extras of shampoo, bath wash, etc. to last us a while. The let down was when we requested for water. They restricted us to only 4 tiny bottles and insisted we pay for any extra. We ended up going to Coles just across the road to buy this.

In terms of facilities, the let down was that one had to walk through the main entrance lobby and then take the elevator at the Hotel block to access the gym and pool. Both were excellent though and I loved the well equipped gym. Was given a towel and water bottle just before entering however like before was asked to pay for a bottle after the workout.

In summary, wish the experience could have been a little more generous in my opinion.

I will start by saying we were extremely grateful that we got moved rooms after we checked in to see that our “Harbourview” was staring at the back of a building not worth $500 a night. So kindly they moved us. It did take over an hour to be moved and several visits to reception but alas we got there in the end and had a beautiful view. It all went downhill after then. Our in room phone didn’t work so it would either have to call the main star number and wait to be connected to room service or reception which I would sometimes be waiting 15 minutes or I constantly had to go down to reception just to ask a simple question.
Also, Having stayed here several times before I have always enjoyed the buffet breakfast, which is of course closed due to covid. All good and well but the replacement breakfast is so bad you would expect more from the star. Small meals, cold and just disappointing.
Also the spa was closed but the pool open which doesn’t make any sense as they could just cap numbers for the whole area and include the spa.
Overall I will not be returning until covid restrictions have eased as the things that make this place great are gone for now. They might know how to run a casino well in these times but the accommodation is confused and short staffed.

A short 2 night getaway with the kids and was truly impressed by the amazing service by ALL staff.

From the initial check-in to checking out, our guest experience was truly 5-star.

We had the lovely Niha and Rachelle check us in. They welcomed us like an old friend. My young kids already took a shinning to their warmth and hospitality, they are real naturals when it comes to hospitality. They gave us all the information on places to eat and things to do. A few hints and tips of our stay, am most importantly, if we needed anything service was just a phone call away.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartments overlooking Pyrmont Bridge, with a master bedroom having a slight view of the pool and gym area.

The apartments have been updated to a nice modern and cosy feel. The beds were like sleeping on clouds, with the noise and outside lights blocked to ensure a good nights' sleep.

The bathrooms were amazing and the lounge area was big enough to swing a cat!

No need for a bathtub when the pool was just a few floors down and a short 50m walk. Fresh pressed towels were provided and drinks can be ordered from the pool reception. Maricar from the pool staff continued the 5 star service. Being able to attend to soo many people while keeping a calm happy demeanor is a tribute to her amazing service.

The in house entertainment has been also given an upgrade being able to stream using Chromecast or Airplay. If you have a USB stick, you can play your videos as well. Each room had the same feature and the wifi was fast enough for HD streaming.

There is a late night Coles Sueprmarket across the road and a 24hr convenient store within The Star.

If you want a late night coffee, head into the Casino gaming floor you will be able to grab one there.

Housekeeping staff was soo helpful and cheery. We were always greeted with a smile behind their masks.

We did have a small discrepency with our bill (due to a misunderstanding) however, Flynn, the Duty Manager spared no time in resolving it cleary explaining the process. He was absolutely lovely on the phone.

I could not stress again how great the service is at The Star. We definitely will return again and I wish all the amazing staff at the hotel, who work soo hard, cudos and all the very best.

Booked the Star Grand as was going to the Lyric theatre in the same building. Price of a superior room was pretty good compared to other city hotels, but was then upgraded at reception to a two bed penthouse. It was excellent, and made the stay very special.
Parking is very easy at the Star, and if you eat at one of the restaurants there, they will give it for free (just ask when you pay your restaurant bill).

We booked to see Hamilton on 17 March and decided to add to the anniversary treat by staying overnight in Sydney at the Star Grand Hotel, a starcation package for $300 including $50 to spend on food or drink within the Casino complex. When we got there at 3 pm, their operating system was down so we could not go to our room. We were given a voucher for a cup of tea and asked to wait. Eventually we were able to be let into our room about 5.30. When we went to get our meal and a drink before the show at one of their approved restaurants, the operating system was still down and so we could not book the cost to our room and had to pay cash. A total of $56.
On checking out, we presented the receipts for the $56 and asked for a cash refund of the $50 to which we were entitled. The hotel refused, saying that they could only give us a credit towards our next stay. I pointed out that we were unlikely to come and stay there again, particularly now, and could they please refund the $50 to my credit card. The manager said that they can never give refunds; only credit for future stays. I have never experienced a business which cannot refund. You have to spend more money to get your entitlement. Eventually a compromise was reached and we were given a credit to be used for future parking. We live in outer Sydney and can make use of the parking but what about out of state visitors or others who may never need to stay at the Star again?
The manager pointed out that the failure of the operating system was a very unusual occurrence and no one’s fault. I am not blaming any one but I am saying that the Star Hotel dealt with it ungenerously.

A minor irritation was that there was no cold milk readily available for tea with our breakfast. We were originally shown the hot milk from the coffee machine and had to ask for a jug of cold milk. This may be Covid related but there was no signage about cold milk being available if you asked for it.

The Star Grand Hotel
Had a really great stay at the Star Grand Hotel in their Premium Harbour View room where we stayed to watch Hamilton at the Lyric Theatre. Check- in was efficient and nice touch with the Chandon. Room was really comfortable and elegant. Thank you for birthday gifts for our daughter and her husband, who both were celebrating birthdays, they were surprised. We dined at Cucina Porto, which is a 10/10 and not to be missed, pre-performance drinks at the Lyric Theatre, had to be Verve, then saw Hamilton, then dessert and more champagne after the performance. I was wondering if our stay at the star includes free parking?

No, free parking wasn't included. A note on the booking e-mail stated that "Self Parking is available for hotel guest at $40 AUD, 7 days a week for single entry and single exit for one vehicle. Parking Access via 55 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont 2009."
