Yes the place is a little run down, However the location is fantastic! Staff are very nice and helpful and the Cafe had great coffee. It's not very often you get balconies in hotels these days, It was a great space to sit and watch the world go by. The weather was great which helped. The hotel was good value...

A really nice, unpretentious room in Surry Hills. Room 9 Cafe downstairs served great simple food and perfect coffee. The room was perfect for the two of us, with a nice bed. Although slightly smallish, the generous courtyard/balcony with views of Crown street more than made up for it. With bars, cafes and great shopping all within a 5 minute...

Even though I read the mixed reviews on here we decided to stay and "give them the benefit of the doubt". Unfortunately we found it all a bit run down...the tiles in the bathroom were cracked. Towels were pretty thin. The drain clogs with the shower curtain and floods the bathroom if you aren't careful. Also was annoying not being...

Awful, awful, awful. Rooms so small you couldn't move passed each other. Walk in "wardrobe" a pole sticking out the wall with a few coat hangers on. The TV didn't work and the sliding door didn't close properly. Entrance to the room was a concrete square with a rubber mat with holes in covering the concrete. The bathroom was so...

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights as it was the cheapest place I could find around Christmas time. I definitely recommend the City Crown Motel! We are two young adults on a budget and it fulfilled ALL of our needs. Beds were comfy, there was a charming balcony with an ashtray (most places won't let you smoke),...

It was just an awful stay!!! We would have changed after having seen (and smelled!) the room but there was nothing available in Sydney so we were unfortunately forced to stay there... By entering the room an absolutely disgusting smell took our breath away!!! There was a stain of mold (at least 30cm big!) on the ceiling which was really...

Great location but a bit aged, it is a MOTEL! Deluxe rooms have terrace thats all the difference and you can watch the cigarette ash fall like snow from the balconies above. Handy to everything good range of restaurants, transport both bus an train. Tips, secure parking but limited 20 pn for this area its a bargain and top floor...

We stayed here for two nights as it was in close proximity to the entertainment centre for the P!nk concert and the hotel had a shuttle service for the airport as we were going overseas. We booked the shuttle (around $30 for 2 adults) we booked it for 6:45 am and got confirmation of this. On the day we were...

We had some minor concerns that we, as elderly UK tourists, might be out of the normal range of this Motel's clientèle, but we need not have worried. The staff were very straightforward and exceptionally helpful. The room was (of course) not large but completely adequate and the outside balcony/deck was a charming addition. Car parking was tight but available...

Looking at a couple of the bad reviews I'm wondering if those reviewers actually stayed in the same City Crown Motel as us. We have stayed in this motel on numerous occasions when my partner has been receiving treatment at St Vincent's Private Hospital in Darlinghurst. The family and their staff who run this establishment are extremely pleasant and helpful;...
