Great menu and excellent location in the CBD, easy access to rooms after hours. large size rooms and bathrooms, friendly staff and fun bar/ night life. this is a classic hotel and very homely. Good views of George St and a cozy place to stay.

I stayed in this hotel in early November. First time visitor in Sydney. First, if you don't mind to share bathroom and toilet with four other people, then you can consider this hotel. Second, if you don't mind stay in a room with 70 year-old renovation, then consider this hotel. Third, if you don't mind to pay for another AUD80...

The Russell was a great place for us to stay overnight. Rooms are clean and tidy. Breakfast was served downstairs in the hotel. This meal was of a great variety and well made. Only complaint is the bedsitter room we stayed in didn't have a television. Other than that it is a great place to stay.

The Russell hotel was great for our one night stay. Was next door to the cruise terminal, Circular Quay was a 2 minute walk. Surrounded by pubs and cafes with the Rocks having a huge Saturday market. The bedrooms were very neat and extremely clean although the bed was a bit on the small side for my 6foot 5 partner....

Perfect position as we were going on a cruise and it was just a 5 minute walk to the ship. Disappointing breakfast menu for the price of the room. Great spot for checking out the history of early Sydney,

Loved our stay here. The location is just a walk away from the Opera House. It is located in an historical area that is kept clean and is quaint. The hotel rooms are above a bar and restaurant. no noise was heard. We shared a bath which was kept very clean. Our small room had a brass bed, end tables...

So conveniently situated right across the road from the cruise terminal. Great location for pre and post cruise accommodation. We will definitely be staying at the Russel again whenever we visit Sydney.

This was a replica of Fawlty Towers. Room was not as pictured when booking. No TV remote. Woman from office came to our room while I was in the shower in her robe after my partner rang about issues with TV. She took my partner up and down all the little stairs everywhere to suggest that we watch TV in...

We had a good size room, and although not one of the most modern, the feel was very comfortable. We loved the central position in the Rocks and the close proximity to Circular Quay makes it an excellent choice for cruisers as well. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend this hotel.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
