After booking the work and travel programme with STA. This was the hostel I stayed in. The hostel is in a good location, 10 mins to Kings Cross and supermarket, 15 mins to city centre. But, there is 6 flights of stairs to the rooms (no lift In building), then down 2 for the bathroom, 2 for the kitchen and...

Boomerang backpackers is, as it says in its name, a backpackers. It's quite a small hostel, with one floor of rooms and bathrooms on another floor and the kitchen and tv room on a different floor. The kitchen is quite small and can get very crowded at breakfast. It has lots of fridges but doesn't have a great range of...

I did not enjoy my stay here. The beds are horrible, I don't think they're even mattresses, just pieces of foam. The kitchen was very small. The bathrooms are all one one floor. The rooms are six flight of stairs up, so if you're travelling with a lot of luggage this is not the place for you. Good location, but...

I've been there for the firs time on March 2007 and came back again May 2008, in just one year everything changed. They depend way too much on the receptionist, so if the are not good the hostel will be a mess. Last time i've been there 2012 it was terrible, the reception had no idea, the toilets were dirty,...

This place has me in very mixed minds. I stayed here early April and while I paid for the cheapest room I don't think it entirely justifies the rubbish in it. The people I met in the hostel were really nice and had a great time chatting and socialising with them. However as I went to my room I wasn't...

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
