Stayed her just after NY in an 8 bed female dorm. Hostel is located on busy kings cross street but is surprisingly quiet. There are hostels all along the street. The hostel staff are friendly and efficient, the kitchen is quite small and there is a lot of dirty plates about that's probably the only downfall. Our room had its...

Overall I did not particularly enjoy my stay at MMBKC. I found that the people who lived/ worked at the hostel were not respectful of the space and were very loud. Many of the floors seemed to serve as party places till very late hours. I was underwhelmed with the whole kings cross area. Very seedy, but conveniently located next...

Not a bad hostel at all. The free breakfast is amazing and the wifi does work well. I only ranked it a 3 because the shower and facilities isn't great. The hostel allows people to work for free accommodation so everyone gets to know you and there are social night etc too. Location is perfect and only 2 stops from...

This place is so dirty and messy I was glad I was only there for one night. Bathrooms are gross, rooms are very messy as long-termers have spread their stuff everywhere, and also pretty dirty. Kitchen isn't any better. Lounge space is messy and dingy. Staff are nice and friendly but you are just handed a key on arrival rather...

I stayed at Mad Monkey hostel for 5 days while travelling up the east coast. Couldn't have made a better choice. I was made feel welcome by the staff and the guests, free food on some nights and quality breakfast.

First of all, the dorm's bathroom was extremely dirty. The glass that covered the right side of the shower had a substantial amount of mold on it. In addition, the floor was constantly soaking wet since the shared bathroom had an open shower. The dorm room was also small. The first night I was there I noticed about 10 little...

From the moment you walk in the door you can feel the family atmosphere. The staff is helpful and very welcoming and warm, eager to answer any questions you have. Staying in Kings Cross

Neighbourhood Profile
Kings Cross
Changing liquor laws are remodeling "The Cross," Sydney's red light district. These new rules have encouraged trendy cafes and boutiques to pop-up in the area, as well as organic markets on Saturdays. The area's nightclubs are still popular with youngsters, however, who will dance to the early morning hours on weekend nights. There are plenty of artifacts from Kings Cross' shady past when gangsters and liquor houses owned the place. Today, one can still find a variety of adult entertainment venues in this evolving area.
