The hostel is right in the heart of the city centre which is great for getting around. Biggest downside was the facilities, the kitchen was always dirty, even when the staff worked hard to clean the kitchen it was always dirty 10 mins later. The dorm rooms were dark but relatively clean. Generally everything felt like it had a layer... More

I heard that Base and Nomads Hostels were in the same family. IF this is the case, I suggest picking Base over Nomads any day. I stayed in a number of Nomads while in Australia because it was part of my "tour up the East Coast" package I did with a tour company and this Base Embassy in Brisbane was... More

We stayed 3 nights in this hostel. We had a double room with private bathroom. The room was very grey and basic although this could be expected considering it being a hostel. However the room was very filthy! The towels had all sorts of stains on them, the bathroom and the bedroom were full of mould and other filth (you... More

Compared to any of the other Base hostels we have stayed at along the east coast this was of a poor standard. Very old building, poor cleanliness, a stale smell in the whole building, terrible beds and pillows. Overall a very grubby hostel although very well located. Best avoided.

WARNING: They keep guest's FULL CREDIT CARD details on pieces of paper on the front desk, if you check in outside main hours. Totally visible, including the CCV. Our 5 night stay lasted a grand total of 7 hours before we left - it was horrible. Our private room was worse than a prison cell, dirty walls and curtains, not... More

Few nights spent in this hostel, not disappointed, clean, quiet, centrally located. When arriving I was sure my gps was wrong, because I could only see the big Hilton sign, but few steps after the Hostel! Very helpful staff. Strange atmosphere though, common room dark and desert, I could not tell why, cause the hostel was not empty. But all... More

Hostel is average throughout but I had a great stay here. Met some great people and was very sad to leave. Location is prefect, close to all the shops, pubs, night life and botanic gardens. Head up to the roof top balcony to meet everyone.

Of the several places I stayed in Australia this had to be the worst one. The only god thing about it was the location near the train station. It as about 15 minute walk from the Greyhound stop. It is quite run down and looks as if it needs a good clean. The reception staff were quite aloof and didn't... More
