First hostel I had ever stayed in and it was lovely compared to what my mind had built it up to be. Comfy bed, air con, chairs on the shared deck/ walkway outside. They had a great free shuttle to the town and airport that ran all the time. Only a few "bad" points. The shower and toilet facilities required...

Our cleaners are asked to lock all doors behind them for security around the hostel, all the doors do unlock...

I have four major areas of dissatisfaction with Calypso: 1) We chose this hostel, over its more conveniently located competitors, because it offers free airport transfers. When we called on the day of our arrival to confirm the pickup, however, we were informed that they weren't providing that service on New Year's Day. 2) In spite of their website's assurance...

Hello CHM511, I'm very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay with us at Calypso. We did try to advise all of our incoming guests arriving on the new years day, that our opening hours had been changed due to the Public Holiday, and i do apologize for the inconvenience. It is Sad for me to hear that you...

We stayed one night here just for the free reptile show (hold a baby croc, snake and lizard) & I cant say how awesome this place is. Started off with a call to Calypso to arrange free airport shuttle when we arrived at the airport. The pick-up coach came within 10 mins! Next the guy at the reception named Dave...

Stayed here in total for three weeks and loved it. Such friendly staff and super atmosphere. Loved the events every evening especially the Triva night with Sam! It's a bit outside of town but there is a free "Bus to town" every hour. Amazing Christmas day here yesterday!

The hostel was nice. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the rooms are basic but fine. There is aircon in the rooms and they are pretty clean. The big con is the distance to the centre of town. There is a free bus but it can be a bit of a hassle and at night you...

Calypso is a nice, quirky hostel for backpackers staying in Cairns. There is a chilled vibe at the hostel and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but clean and the mattresses on the beds are some of the best we have experienced in hostels. Two kitchens, quite small but a really nice common area with...

Really liked my stay at Calypso inn. Chilled environment and everyone was very friendly and staff helpful. It's a small hostel so you meet the same people each day which I liked. However, kitchens are also very small. The upstairs kitchen also gets boiling hot when cooking - but it is open 24hr. Calypso is not in cairns town centre....

I got to stay at Calypso Inn for only one day. I called the night before, telling them that my bus would arrived at 5am and asked if I could check-in at this time. I was expecting a no, as all hostels time for check-in is usually 2 pm, but the manager looked into the system and found an empty...

Great hostel to kick back and chill rooms are bit dated but clean. Two good size kitchens nice pool area. It's bit of walk into town but it nice and quite location. They do free bus runs at good times every few hours which saves you if you not feeling the walk. If you looking for a relaxed hostel this...

I moved here after spending a night at Global Waterfront hostel, which was absolutely disgusting. Although this hostel is a little out of town (about a 20 min walk), they run a free shuttle every hour throughout the day. The staff here are great - super friendly and helpful, and will help sort out any tours you want to do....
