We spent one night here on our way home. What a huge disappointment. Definitely nothing like the photo's on their website. Very old and dated rooms. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work. The shower is over the bath and the bath is raised a good 350mm off the floor. There was a handrail however I felt it was...

Nice enough hotel, but for what it provides I'd find cheaper...very basic...rooms are plantation style...no views of water...the buffet breakfast is the worse I've ever had..very basic...and aimed at the Asian market..pool nice and always empty of people...for breakfast and coffee other places really close..2 on opposite corners or muddies on the esplanade..great coffee, breakfast and if you have little ones really...

Hotel Cairns is definitely not a 4-star... more like a 2-star motel. Very noisy in-room AC, insufficient show curtain/door which causes water to splash all over the bathroom floor, they even has a sign asking guests to use towels to clean up water on the floor. Overall hotel is out of date, tiny elevator. We ended up switching hotels at...

This place looks great in the photos. But alas, the rooms are extremely small and dated no microwave. Older style bathroom and the onsite plantation restaurant is closed for who knows how long. The pool is good with associated spa. Would be handy if they cleaned the bins out in this area occasionally as they smelt a bit. If you...

I stayed here one night after a week of diving on the Great Barrier Reef. Service was fine and the pool was a lovely little oasis. The room was clean and simply furnished in a modern, tropical way. Had a nice view from my balcony too, facing the harbor. I slept well because the mattress was comfortable. I really appreciated...

Our room is located on the second floor - with windows on the same side as the entrance. For privacy. we close the shutters all the time. There is no safe box in the room but for $10 you can rent one at the reception. The buffet breakfast is quite good. Towels for day use outside of the hotel are...

Not too bad a place to stay. Perfectly positioned just around the corner from the Esplanade and reasonably quiet. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Pool was nice. Decor was perhaps a little dated but you don't go to Cairns to sit in your accommodation all day. There is also a rather nice Chinese restaurant attached to this place that...

I stayed at the Hotel Cairns before and after my diving excursion with Mike Ball Excursions. Mike Ball's recommendation was spot on good. The room was clean, staff was friendly, and the pool and deck was a great place to rest and stay cool. The laundry facilities available at the hotel were very useful, but like any other washer used...

First the good part: staff is friendly, location is good and the building looks really nice from the outside. Then the rest: the room was very hot and the airco didn't seem to work. (didn't do much except being noisy) There are moldy spots on the walls and ceiling. Paint is flaking off. The balcony window had a broken lock...

If I hadn't already experienced sleeping in a few dirty, mean & nasty hotel rooms in Bangkok, I'd probably rate The Hotel Cairns as poor, but given I have seen a few rough places.... I'm happy to give them an <AVERAGE> rating. The place isn't bad, but its not fantastic. We only booked this place cause it was cheap &...
