A really beautiful and lovely hostel with a nice, calme atmosphere. They have a lot of books, pictures everywhere, a tidy kitchen and even a piano. The beds are comfortable and the staff is absolutely friendly!

We only stayed in Civic Guest house for one night but could have stayed longer! We booked a deluxe dorm and we're a little unsure what was deluxe when we arrived. However, we have a lovely shower and a big fridge which was great to keep food and water in. The beds were squeaky and old but comfy nonetheless and...

My husband and I checked into Civic Guest House for two nights as part of our honeymoon backpacking up the Australian east coast. It is a laid back hostel with a good atmosphere. We had a private double with en suite and it was fine for what we wanted it for. The wifi is good - probably the best we...

Stayed here for two nights in a 6 bed mixed dorm. AC is good at night, wifi is very good although only in common area but probably is a good thing. Kitchen is well equipped and kept clean, a bit annoying that the oven had stopped working but didn't hinder cooking. It's a walking distance to everything and the hostel...

Fantastic place to stay! It's a little out of the way in terms of location however it's worth the walk. You definitely get more than what you pay for. I stayed in a twin room with AC, a ceiling fan, a mirror and a fridge. Only complaint about room is AC had a weird whirring noise so we couldn't have...

I stayed in the civic guest house for 4 nights and I absolutely loved it, I'm actually a bit sad that I planned ahead for my trip down the east coast. Friendly staff, the rooms were very clean (cleanest rooms for a backpackers hostel that I've ever seen), nice sitting area's and a big kitchen.

A nice and clean hostel with a very FRIENDLY  staff!! If you are looking for a relaxed easy going atmosphere but nót that noisy party hardy thing what a hostel can have, this is the place to be!! Although limited, they have a pick up service from the ferry - greyhound busstop too. I was very surprised when there was...

The hostel is really nice, comfortable and clean. I felt like we got a lot for just little money. Our six bed dorm had an ensuite bathroom and a fridge. It was very spacious, the kitchen was well-equipped and the staff was super-friendly. The hostel even had a piano which people could play! It is not that centrally located but...

My stay at the Civic Guest House in Townsville was great. Friendly staff, clean room (4 bed dorm, on the first floor) and enough space for every guest, clean bathroom, clean kitchen, quiet hostel after 10 PM. Wifi only worked well in the reception area, not in the rooms. The hostel is close to the Goat Track on Castle Hill...
