If you want to blow the cobwebs out of your hair, this is the place to do it. The beautifully designed Lodge allows you to watch with a magnificent view, the Antarctica southern rollers from the lounge, dining room or suite, then take an excursion for day or night wildlife and finally walk up to a pod of 50 seals...

We stayed 4 nights at the lodge. The setting and architecture are truly stunning with sweeping ocean and vast bushland views. The isolation is very calming. All the staff are great, especially the outdoor excursion guides and front desk. Our room was huge with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The cuisine is fresh, innovative with wonderful local produce including foraged...

The Southern Ocean Lodge (SOL) is a majestic place. The setting is peaceful and beautiful. The lodge itself is unforgettable and the staff goes out of there way to make your stay what you want it to be. The rooms are amazing, the food is wonderful and the placement of the lodge makes it look like it was met to...

I have had the luck of staying in some magnificent properties around the world and I have to say SOL is among my favourite. The location, the room, the staff, the food and wine; but, most importantly the wildlife experiences. I will never forget watching the big male koala walking, in broad daylight, across the track immediately in front of...

The place to get away from it all, but still experience the best hospitality! Just get to the Kangaroo Island Airport then let their superb staff take care of you. The staff have the right amount of friendliness, courteousness, thoughtfulness, and intelligence. Their recommendations are excellent. Just go with it. The meals, the drinks, the snacks, the excursions, the spa...

2nd time we stayed here and whilst it is still an exceptional place to visit it didn’t quite hit the extremely high notes we experienced in our first visit. We were realistic that our first visit was worth 7 stars let alone 5 and so we were prepared that we might not quite get the same feeling 2nd time around....

We stayed in Southern Ocean Lodge May 2016. It is quite expensive but if you can afford it, I have to say it's worth it. It's a different kind of luxury that is distinctly Australian. The lodge showcases nature at its finest. The accomodation was fantastic with a magnificent view of the Southern Ocean. Food and service were excellent. The...
