Such a stunning building. Rooms are so dated though. Very 70s and desperately need updating. Lots of wood paneling and bad furniture. Very clean still. Bed so amazingly comfy though!!!! And staff divine. Was obviously stunning in its day and could be again.

Grand old building, large clean well furnished room, dining room looks out over Hobart. helpful staff. Good selection of food, well presented. The hotel is made up of the old main building and more recent buildings but blends in well.

This building was on a site in North Hobart which had previously been a 'blind and deaf institute', and before that a site for women convicts and then new immigrants. I had a newly refurbished room with a view down to the city and the bay which was very good. The restaurant and reception are were in the older building....

Had a great stay but overall, the history of the building was a bit unsettling to be at alone..! I recommend researching this before booking your stay here. The rooms were very comfortable, though quite out dated.. Didn't really have the "Rydges" feel that I am used to. The room had a great view looking out over the North Hobart...

The bed was comfortable but the the thing that cost this room getting a perfect five were the pillows way way way too soft . The shining light...

The hotel has old charm and our king suite was spacious at a very reasonable price. But the lo ation is some 30+ minutes walk from the warf and the city centre, or ca. $11-15 with a cab. The bathroom was fine, the TV was smallish and the receptionists were not always friendly or efficient.

Dear Guest, We have a spectacular view looking down to the waterfront and although it can be $11 in a cab we like to think the location is quite and unique. The room you stayed in will be renovated and will look amazing! cant wait to put some images on to the website!. Stay tuned... Kind Regards Nicholas General Manager
