My husband is a yachting enthusiast and amateur sailor, so being in Hobart for the end of the 75th Sydney to Hobart was a bucket-list experience for him.

Booking in for 5 nights at the Salamanca Wharf Hotel was perfect for us. Gorgeous well-appointed apartment in a central location that was an easy walking distance to everything Hobart has to offer. Close to Constitution Dock to see the yachts coming in, MONA ferry, heaps of restaurants and cafes, Salamanca markets on Saturday, and Taste of Tasmania food festival right on our doorstep. Plus we could see the NYE fireworks from our balcony (in pjs).

We had a one bedroom apartment. Very comfy bed and adequate wardrobe space, bathroom had plenty of bench and cupboard space, good quality shower and toiletries plus a washing machine. Kitchen/living area was perfect for us - fully stocked minibar very reasonably priced, dishwasher, plunger coffee and teas.

Definitely would stay again. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Building has good security.

Indulged a bit on the end of our Tassie trip as we decided to stay for new years. Booked this hotel for it's location to the hub of what is happening in Hobart with the Taste of Tasmania happening at this time of year. Nice and close to that and also a wharf spot to catch the fireworks for new years. Even scored a balcony with uninterrupted views of the display as the little one was asleep by midnight so hubby and I watched from the room. Facilities are great. Although I have never been a fan of those washer/dryer combos.

Looking for a superbly located hotel in Salamanca which is quiet and extremely well appointed then this is the place for you. We first stayed here a month ago and on our next trip to Hobart where are we staying, right here again. Very quiet and private you wouldnt know you were in the hustle and bustle of Salamanca.. Both times we have stayed in an extremely well appointed apartment on the 3rd floor, includes a kitchen and laundry facilities. Very quiet with no noise from other rooms. A lovely touch on our second stay was the complimentary bottle of Jansz Champagne, it brought a smile to our faces as it was completely unexpected. Already recommending this Hotel to our friends, work colleagues and acquaintances.

My partner and I decided to stay here for our last couple of days in Hobart. I loved the aesthetic of the hotel, the interior is based around the Antarctic and the hotel rooms are brimming with beautiful hues of blue and white. The modern rooms and amenities will make you feel all a little bit fancy with some gorgeous framed pics of the Antarctic. Special mention to the ladies at reception, so warm, kind and helpful, also weren't afraid of a bit of banter and had a great sense of humor. Also when arriving in the room I have to say the level of cleanliness was off the chart!!! So clean, no dust and the smell was amazing! Highly recommend!

Our stay was overall pleasant. The bed was comfortable and there is heaps of storage cupboards in the bathroom and bedroom for an extended stay. Our bedroom was noisy though from other guests, which was disruptive and affected our sleep. The room was clean and had everything we needed. A five minute walk to the Salamanca district which is fantastic! Heaps of shopping, restaurants, and harbour cruises. Onsite parking for the hotel is in a vehicle 'stacker' which was weird and creative. Staff (including the manager when answering emails) were attentive and professional.

TIP - skip the restaurant. Salamanca Wharf Hotel does not own the restaurant on the ground floor but our package included breakfast hence eating there. Our food was truly dreadful. My porridge one day was lukewarm soupy milk with some oats. Sent it back and was told no other customer had complained before. Really? Avoid.

We had 2 weeks here, but split into separate weeks. The first week we had room 16, and 17 for the 2nd. Both were very good. Great location but don’t expect views. Rooms very clean and well equipped. The washer/dryer is great for the long distance traveller. Parking is good with the car stacker. Staff very pleasant.
Just one or two niggles - the room safes didn’t work in either room but a key was supplied. They are very small - no room for a laptop or tablet. We were unlucky for our 2nd week in having some noisy neighbours - not the hotels fault and hard to identify which room it was.
A good stay and will happily return

We stayed in a loft apartment. The room was spacious but the low ceiling is a major constraint on how you move about these types of rooms. The severely raked roof constrains one side of the bed and the bathroom. To use the mirror in the bathroom you need to bend over to see your reflection. Although i was keenly aware of the raked ceiling I hit my head a number of times. From the marks and abrasions on the paintwork it is obvious that this is a common occurrence. Apart from that we were quite comfortable.

The staff are super friendly and welcoming.

Our advice is to be well aware of what the constraints are before you book the loft rooms. As other reviewers have noted there is also no 24hr Reception service. To some extent the room reminded me more of an Air B&B rental than a hotel.

One other point to note is the parking “stack” which locks cars into wire cages and stores them vertically. We were advised that our Outlander SUV, which is not large, was the maximum size vehicle that would fit in the stack. We later met some guests who were checking-in after reception had closed and they were trying to work out the parking arrangements. We told them there was no way their large 4-wheel drive would fit. They had to find alternative parking on the street. So parking is another issue to be aware of.

A 22 room hotel , it was perfectly located close enough to Salamanca place but away from the main strip and noise . We booked two penthouse apartments and were slotted 19 and 21 , different layouts . One studio and the other a one bedroom . It was spacious, warm , comfy bed, kitchenette plus laundry and one apartment had 2 tvs. Reception is from 9 to 5 only and you have to make arrangements for after hours check in . There is no room service but a cafe serving breakfast and lunch to 3 pm Is in the ground floor and has good coffee and meals .

Staff were really friendly and helped arrange luggage to be moved when we booked a different room for an afternoon stay before a night flight .

Lots of restaurants around and the Mona ferry is 5 minutes away , city is a 15 minute walk as well and battery point around the corner . There is on site parking but for smaller cars .

Excellent location at end of Salamanca Place. Tasmania’s only “car stacker” makes parking on site easy in this area.
Super clean and new. Beautifully made local timber furniture. A joy to use. Well appointed. Comfortable bed and bathroom and kitchen - all new.
Restaurants all 2 min walk a is waterfront.
Double glazed glass areas would make this hotel quieter from outside noise and would then rate 11 out of 10!

I cannot understand the negative reviews regarding Salamanca Wharf Hotel. We have just returned from 19 nights split up by a week in Queensland. I must say that it is ideal for that purpose with a good sitting area/kitchen, great bathroom and bedroom. We had two rooms - a street facing room with balcony on the 2nd floor forbour first week, followed by a rear facing room on the 3rd floor, no balcony, for the second stay. Both were good but the first one did lack good cupboard space in the bedroom. Some balcony furniture would have been nice.

Both rooms had a washer/drier in the bathroom which is essential when you are away for a month.

The car stacker for free parking is a very good facility as long as the car isn’t too big. No charge for this which is great. It is perhaps a little slow sometimes but you learn to adapt to this.

The cafe is a great facility to have onsite, and the proximity to Salamanca and the rest of Hobart is great. It’s true that it doesn’t have good views, but that isn’t essential for us.

The beds good be bigger, but that would be my only comment.

Staff very friendly and helpful, especially housekeeping.

If you are on a short stay then perhaps this isn’t the right place, but it was perfect for us - like having your own apartment. Can’t imagine staying anywhere else to be honest.

Does the penthouse loft room have a separate bedroom? Also can you get the car out anytime hassle free?

Not sure about that. We had a room on Level 3 and this had a separate bedroom so I would expect it does. We didnt use the onsite parking, we parked on the street. Maybe email reception, they are really helpful. It is a great location and we have stayed there a couple of times.

No views. The best place that I have stayed in Hobart, with a view, is the Grand Chancellor. You can get a view of the mountains or the wharf depending upon your choice (and budget of course). Hope this helps
