Enjoyed our stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. View over Melbourne from the upper floors is fantastic, Very comfortable beds. Dined in their restaurant and was impressed by the selection of chioces. Prices very reasonable. Very close to Lume (visit recommended), the DFO (didn't visit), the Casino, and the Arts Centre. Had a very restful two days - was lazy enough to order room service for breakfast! We definately intend to return.

My husband and I stayed here recently for the Australian Open.

We stayed in an accessible room as my husband is a quadriplegic. The room was large, allowing us the needed space for all our extra equipment - hoist, shower chair, wheelchair etc. The bed was fitted with extenders so the host was able to fit under the bed - an added bonus we had not yet experienced in our travels.

The staff were helpful on arrival as our original room was not fitted with these extenders so they moved us onto a floor that had them. They also upgraded our support workers room, so we could have adjoining rooms.

The balcony bar was a great space where we enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner and a cold drink.

The coffee is GOOD!

The location meant we could walk to the tennis (about a 30 minute walk) and were close to shopping (DFO across the road) and restaurants and bars were plentiful. Attached to the convention centre and a short walk from the exhibition centre this would be a great hotel to stay in for conferences or trade shows.

We loved The Novotel South Wharf and definitely will be back!

Could not fault the Novotel, from the checking in to departure. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was good too.
The only criticism was the layout of the items at breakfast. There was only one coffee machine, which was in the right hand corner of the restaurant and because of where it was the queue was quite long so if you wanted cereal you would have to wait in the coffee queue because you couldn't get to the bowls. My wife just wanted hot water for her tea but had to wait in the same queue too.
I would suggest that the coffee and tea should have been put on the long table where the fruit juices were because there was plenty of room there and probably an hot water urn for those that just wanted tea would help too. In my experience I find that queues irritate people especially for something as simple as the above.

Where do I start, we book 6 rooms for a work conference, booking was under my name and my sister name. We are both gold Accor members.

When we arrived you have to take your bag upstairs to reception. Check went well, gave everyone details and arrival times as people were arriving at different times and day.

Room are nice, bed comfortable, it can get a little noisy as next to freeway.

House keeping broke my razor reported it and hotel credit me, on my last night coming back from being out at the conference and Dinner my pillowcase was taken and replaced with hotel lien, when I notified hotel they advised that they needed to go through all the lien to find and Instead if I email them pillowcase that I purchased the would refund me. I advised Zoe the night manager not a problem and get back to her she assured me that she would leave notes at reception for when I check out. Finically get to bed at almost midnight and my AC decides to make loud noise, I report it, I was asked to move room though due to being so late I decided to stay and sleep without AC.

Check out experience was a nightmare, Rofi was unable to check us out and sort out the pillow case and razor credit.

Firstly she was unable to find the booking, only to realise she had the wrong room number. Once she found the booking she advised that it was all sorted. I said that can’t be because Zoe advised there would be notes on the system as I needed to contact you to sort out the pillowcase. After providing my personal credit card Rofi was going to charge my personal credit card for work charges after explaining it all and advising that they are separate matters. They merged other room charges into my room total of $10 I asked Rofi to charge the original credit card in the system though Rofi deducted the charges from the credit that was on the system. I explained to a Rofi that the credit was for my own personal and was separate for the broken razor. In the end after 30min she advised that she will leave everything for you to sort out as she was unable to complete.

It was quite frustrating in both parties.

I received a credit for the razor after weeks of trying to get in contact with hotel. As for my pillow case I was advised that my stay was escalated to the manager Ben, who I left a number of phone calls msg to return my call and email though it now been over a month and still nothing for the manger.

Would I recommend this hotel no, even being a gold Accor member I have never being treated like this, there are other hotels next to the convention centre that are far better than this. It’s disappointing that I even had to write this review though only because the manager has not return any of my calls, emails or refunded me for my pillowcase which house keeping lost.

Location was great as it's central to the city and many restaurants right on the Wharf, with a public parking building next door. Ask or book for higher floors otherwise you will be looking at rooftops instead of a reasonable good view.
Despite the hotel being new and large, the restaurant is not so crash hot, neither is the Cafe. Breakfast could do with an improvement as even after 2 days, it gets to be so boring!
The room is good enough but the pillows, even with choice, can make you feel as if you are standing up.

We were staying nearby and received an email from Travelzoo offering rooms at this hotel from $129. We took up the offer and stayed at the hotel to extend our city stay. This price is an excellent price in comparison to booking directly with accor. We are gold members so are quite loyal to the excellent accor brand.

We actually went for the King Room on a higher floor with Yarra River views for an extra $30 per night. I feel that the cheaper room would have been sufficient for us as the views are not that spectacular. (Mainly highway views and city views with slight yarra river views)

Location is great with DFO South Wharf across the road and many restaurants and bars to choose from at South Wharf. A short walk away is Crown Casino and a little further away is Southbank. All very easily walkable.

If staying here a must do is visit The Lume which is downstairs at The Convention Centre which is an excellent digital display of van Gough's works of art.

Whilst we faced a busy highway the window glazing must be very good as we heard no highway noise and slept well.

Rooms are very modern and clean but slightly smaller than other hotels we have stayed at.

We did have a problem with the television as it seemed to freeze and wouldn't allow us to change channels on occassions. It may be an internet related issue? We didnt report the issue as it wasn't a big deal for us.

The King bed was super comfy but I do prefer much softer pillows.

Bathroom whilst small was very functional and a generous supply of toiletries was provided.

An improvement would be to have a coffee machine in the room like many hotels have these days. Nowadays I struggle to drink instant coffee.

I would definitely be happy to stay here again.

Booked Standard Room with Queen Bed, which included Buffet Breakfast for two. Reception on 5th Floor. Check in and Check out was very efficient and friendly. Our room had floor to ceiling window views of the City. The other side of Novotel had views to Port Philip Bay. Loved the Walk in Shower. Very comfy bed and pillows and great lighting options to create atmosphere.
The meals at Mr Carpano were delicious and reasonably priced. We ordered Veal Coletta and a Margherita Pizza.
The staff were very professional and welcoming. Buffet Breakfast 6 am - 10 am was very well set out with a great selection of hot and cold dishes. If you park at Wilson Parking, 2 Convention Place, and obtain a ticket from the machine, Hotel Reception will validate the ticket and the cost will be $24 overnight instead of $48. We highly recommend Novotel Melbourne South Wharf

Booked two rooms for a family stay and with our Platinum status were allocate adjoining rooms on 24th floor which provided a wonderful view of the city and the river. Hotel still has that new feel about it and all the staff we came in contact with were super friendly and good at their job. Breakfast was very good and quite busy. We ate outside so did not have dinner in the hotel restaurant but did enjoy a drink at the bar. Really good location just over the road from DFO, heaps of restaurants and riverside walk. Great place to stay.

Thanks to some incredibly good deals, we have stayed at Novotel South Wharf twice already this year. If you love to outlet shop, the location can’t be beaten as DFO is right across the road. The hotel is just out of the CBD grid, which means it’s nice and quiet at night yet only a 10 minute walk from the nearest tram stop (outside Crown). It’s a great base for tram trips into the CBD, or out of the CBD towards South Melbourne, Port Melbourne, Albert Park or St Kilda. The Lume is right next door, and is a great attraction for those with even a vague interest in art.

For both stays, our room had two double beds and views over the freeway. If you crane you neck you can see some of the city skyline.  The bathrooms have a spacious walk-in shower with non-slip tiles, and almost all the amenities you could wish for. There was no vanity kit supplied, but other extras like a spare toothbrush and razor were there.

The hotel gym was impressive, with cardio machines, dumbbells, benches and free weights. Unfortunately the water and wipe dispensers were not operational during my visit.

The restaurant, Mr Carpano, does a decent buffet breakfast with eggs to order, pancake machine and some of the best danishes I’ve ever eaten. Their al a carte dinner menu is also delicious and not too expensive for a hotel restaurant. We can recommend the fish and the caprese salad.

For a clean, functional room in a quiet location just out of the CBD grid, it’s hard to beat Novotel South Wharf. I’ve stayed there twice now and would happily stay there again (if the price is right).

If you are looking for a hotel that ticks all the boxes and won’t break the budget look no further. The Novotel South Wharf Melbourne. Surrounded with amazing shopping, DFO (shoppers paradise), and great restaurants and bars all along the Yarra. If you crave more you also have the Crown Casino only a short walking distance away. You can also jump on the City Circle/ tram if walking isn’t your thing and travel the whole city for free, hop on and off within the CBD at no cost and explore the beautiful city of Melbourne. So much to see and do. The buffet breakfast and restaurant at the Novotel also offer quality food at a reasonable price. The hotel is set back so you also enjoy a peaceful and comfortable rest when you need it. Can’t go wrong
