I stayed at this location in January 2020 the location is great you can walk pretty much anywhere in the CBD. But that’s about where the positives end, I guess the room we were allocated hadn’t been stayed in recently as it had an odour of damp dog? We used to be backpackers and we were going to a gig so we shrugged it off and went out for the night.

The next morning we used to the shower and it had a serious sewer scent, also there was mould on the ceiling to the right of the shower cubicle. That day our room was cleaned and the original damp scent had cleared a little hence why I think the room hadn’t been used recently.

The other thing that was a little annoying is that in the lift there are various posters advertising “Happy Hour $5 drinks”. This poster is a huge photo of a margarita which I thought was a great deal. Unfortunately in the bottom of the poster in smaller writing it states “certain drinks only”. We walked back to the hotel for $5 margs only to be turned away this is comparable to having a big juicy rack of ribs on the poster stating $10 dinners but upon arrival only garlic bread or a plate of chips is available for that price. It’s just a little bit false to use a drink that isn’t on the happy hour as the background to your happy hour advert.

Anyway, rant over you get what you pay for with this hotel. Location good. Everything else Average.

Check-in / out was a breeze, and a great touch was that since my room wasn't ready (understandable as I got there at 8:00 AM), they still took my bag and when I came back from my office at the end of the day, they just handed me the keys and my bag was already in the room. There was quite a bit of noise with the train, until it stopped running (midnight or so?). They advertise $10 credit if you don't use cleaning services. I did this 4/5 nights, but did not get the credit. The continental breakfast is pretty steep @ $15 for a pretty limited selection. The location was great in accessing a lot of great food, office and transportation all right there.

We loved Batmans Hill, our room was quite small but it was great value for the money and it was easy to walk across the road to the train station or jump on one of many different tram routes. Also having Woolworths Metro at the train station complex meant we were not short of cheap food items either. Their access via lifts and stairs can be a bit awkward as the building used to be a bank back in the day and so some of the design decisions re: access seem odd, also reception is on a mezzanine not on the ground floor. Overall though, staff were friendly, this was an easy hotel to get to and being in the middle of town we could duck back in for a shower and then head out again for dinner. Staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very at home even though it was our first time there. Breakfast was reasonable and convenient. Not a huge range of buffet items but everything was tasty and nicely presented. The drinks station was hidden behind a column and we missed it the first day. Checkout was easy and they were great about storing luggage for us until our night time train. We really enjoyed our stay here and pleased we went for this hotel and not a high rise fancy one. No pool though but we visited the Melbourne Baths near MIT which were amazing. Also, they have a coin operated laundry on each floor.

Stayed here for two nights, mainly due to the location. I booked a premier room and my travelling companion booked a standard room. My bed was like a plank of wood, theirs was soft and gave them support. My room (level 3) was very loud with traffic noise and the air con unit was also unusually loud, their room on the Mezzanine level and had no traffic noise. Neither room had an service on the Foxtel channels so it was just free to air - don't all hotels offer that these days?? We had dinner in the restaurant one night. The prices were pretty reasonable, the service was good and the food was delicious. The service from staff throughout our stay was mixed. At check in the service was friendly, happy and polite, but at check out the girl was more interested in what was on her computer screen than acknowledging we were there, or offering any kind of warm welcome. The bar staff were having a lovely chat amongst themselves before they served us. When they did finally serve us they were friendly enough.
The stay was a real mixed bag. I definitely wouldn't recommend the rooms or wasting money on an upgrade - you get better value on the standard room. I knew it wasn't a 5 star property but I was left expcting more than what we received as far as value for money. The location is great though if you are only staying for one night and you need to be close to trams, trains and the airport bus.

This is a nice little hotel with delusions of grandeur. For example, their hot breakfast is good, provided you get a hot buffet. Otherwise, you get a limited choice of hot meals from a menu and the portions are very small (particularly the eggs - 2 eggs + 1 piece of toast). The 2 bedroom apartments either have only views of the interior walls of their other buildings or the main bedroom has a view of the street but the second bedroom has no windows at all. And there is only one bathroom in the two-bedroom apartments, no ensuite for the main bedroom. The bathrooms could do with a good scrub, particularly the tiles and grout around the bath/shower and the textured floor tiles. If you have mobility issues, you need to take a lift just to get to reception. The location was great for public transport and the staff were very helpful.

Stayed twice within a few days, both Premiere rooms were similar; recently completely refurbished they have beautiful stylish & modern bathrooms with rainforest showers, and very comfortable beds.
Location is perfect for the airport bus at Southern Cross Station, a short walk over the river to the casino and Southbank and also walkable (albeit a bit further) to the city centre shops and laneways.
The bar is a lovely place to relax with a happy hour drink.
Outstanding value for the location and quality of the room and would definitely consider it the next time I'm in Melbourne.

Room 203 must have been recently renovated during the Covid lockdowns as it was very fresh and spotlessly cleaned. As an accommodation provider myself, my standards for cleanliness are set highly and Batman's Hill met them all. The hotel was in a convenient location for me to walk to a conference at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and the staff were all very courteous and helpful.

Just for a place to sleep and shower it is great. Reasonably good cleanliness, room was a bit musty, smelt like old dust, until opened the window and turn on the air conditioning.

The economy rooms wont be renowned for the view, unless brick walls take your fancy. But then it is a convenient place to rest and sleep, then get out and enjoy Melbourne.

Reception was efficient, helpful and when asked about late checkout was offered 1 hour complimentary late checkout. (For us it was all we needed).

Conveniently located near Southern Cross Station and trams run past the place, se getting around using public transport is no problem. High score for location.

Lugging suitcase down and up a flight of stairs to get to the lifts is unique to a hotel, but you only need to do this twice for each stay.

The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the Southern Cross Station. There are plenty of eateries within walking distance, not to forget shopping too.

There is a small casino at the hotel basement - great for those who want to have a bit of fun without going all the way to Crown Casino (it's a nice walk there).

Plus points: There are laundry rooms for washing/ drying clothes & a nice spacious dining area too.

One thing that needs improvement is the tap handles (both the sinks and shower area). They are incredibly difficult to turn. My family stayed there, spread among five rooms and they all said the same.

One of the first things I was most pleased about on entry to my room was that it was not all grey and white and boring. It was very cosy, like a den. The interior was clearly freshened by a new update and was nicely accented with brown and gold tones and provided a very restful haven in the city. Enough hanging space, and all you need for a short stay. My room had a lovely balcony spanning the length of the room which allowed for sunshine and fresh air and a fab city view, which was totally unexpected. The location was perfect for my connection to Vline and the Skybus, and access to the city and surrounds was by hopping on a tram at the corner of the Hotel. Surpisingly, I slept very well. Hotel rooms are usually a challenge for me but the bed was very comfy and noise levels not a problem at all. Checkin was streamless, as was checkout. My sister had another room and felt the same about her room, we were both very happy.

If your room is ready you’ll be able to check In whe you arrive. If not, they’ll keep your bag. Make sure they put it in the bag storage room before you leave for your lunch or shopping.
