Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

After planning a weekend away from our children decided to stay in the heart of the city so we wouldn’t miss the action. The young girl on reception was fantastic and very accommodating. Upon entering the elevator we started to become concerned about were we had booked noticing

For an overnight stay this was perfect as we only needed a comfy bed and shower in the morning. Location is awesome and being where it is it’s not a hotel that has noise issues. Our room was compact but for us it served its purpose, so if you prefer space this place might not be

The Causeway Hotel is in a great location in Melbourne however our bedroom was on the small side. Unfortunately we were unable to move rooms due to the AO being on and everywhere being fully booked. The continental breakfast was superb.

The location was worth 0.6 but there’s no 0.6, so it gets a 1. Check in, word for word. ‘Here’s your keys, they probably won’t work.’ ‘What do I do then?’ ‘You come back and try again’. Carpet in the room was disgusting, so bad to a point that I wore thongs (flip flops)

Dear ChristianAus, Thank you for taking the time to share a review on your recent stay with us. While I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed our central location and experienced exceptional service from one member of staff it is unfortunate that we were not able to reach your expectations in all areas on this occasion. While our investigation remains ongoing, please rest assured that the instances you have described certainly do not reflect the standards of service that we expect. Hotel management are currently gathering further information and where necessary will work constructively with staff members towards ensuring that their usual high standards of service are maintained at all times in the future. Please accept our apologies for the negative impact that these occurrences had on your time with us. Your feedback in relation the carpet within your room has also been shared with management and highlighted to our maintenance department to investigate and action where possible. Please rest assured that carpets are vacuumed each day that they are in use as part of normal housekeeping service. Once again I thank you for your feedback and wish you all the best. Dear Julie T, Thank you for booking with us and for your questions. Please allow me to answer as best I can at this stage: 1.) The weather in Melbourne in April is usually fairly mild during the day however mornings and nights can be cool so a jumper or light jacket may be required. 2.) The spa in the room type you have booked is round in shape which can fit either one or two individuals. 3./4.) I am unable to confirm at this stage which level your room will be on, or it’s proximity to the lift. Room allocation is usually completed the day prior to your arrival and can be impacted by factors including existing occupancy for the room type booked; as well as occasionally, unforeseen maintenance issues. Please do not hesitate to post any further questions here or contact our friendly reservations team directly who would be more than happy to assist. We look forward to welcoming you in April. Kind regards,

Hi Mashton43 Thank you for your question, There are a few different options that you can take with regards to Airport Transfers. These are Bluebird, Starbus & Skybus. Both Bluebird and Starbus will take you from the airport direct to the hotel. Skybus will take you to Southern Cross Station where you will get onto a smaller bus to take you to the hotel, however the Skybus will drop you off at the Melbourne Town Hall, which entails a short walk to Hotel Causeway. All 3 companies are similar in price at approximately $18 p/p one way.
