The Somerset is convenient for Melbourne tourist activities and shopping, the apartment was comfortable, plus very clean. The staff were courteous and welcoming. However, if you are allergic to noise this place is not for you. We complained about the traffic noise and were met with a quick offer to change. The 10th floor room was certainly better and one wonders... More

Lovely serviced apartments which we found spacious with separate living area / bedrooms, on-suite bathroom and kitchenette; ideal for the two of us and included everything we needed. Bedroom had a nice large bed which I found comfortable, although I did get hot at night, and there was plenty of space for clothes. The bedroom has a good sized safe... More

Stayed for 2 nights from 11th Nov to 13th Nov. Booked a 2 room unit. The room was ok but the furniture and amenities need an upgrade. The staff was ok although on the checkout had to wait for more than 10 minutes as the reception was only staffed by 1 person. Excellent location, central to everything.

Spent 6 nites there with my wife. Excellent location in the cbd area. Near tram rides and very accessible to shopping and dining area. Reception at hotel was very good and polite making us feel very welcome. Even though the sofa in the suite seems dated but overall feel very comfortable.

We stayed at Somerset on Elizabeth for 6 nights. Good location as shopping (such as Myers, David Jones, H&M, Uniqlo, etc) are a stone throw away. Chinatown is less then 5 mins walk and the free tram station is 1 min walk. Room is good size and comes with a small kitchenette, washing machine and microwave oven. However the room... More

The location is great and very convenient if your work is in the CBD. The property is very well maintained and the staff are very efficient. I thought the breakfast options were very limited. The shower mixer could have been better with the hot water mix.

We made a great choice staying at the Somerset on Elizabeth during our visit to Mebourne. The location is excellent, being close to the transit centre at Spencer Street, right around the corner from central Melbourne Shopping precinct and so close to theatres, galleries and all the great sites of Melbourne.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
