Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have to say it's very noisy during the night, maybe because of the location. Next door guest is noisy as well. Cleaning is not very good. We stayed for one night. Staff is very nice. Service is ok. Room has strange smell...

This is a great spot to stay in South Melbourne, the rates a super for the position, staff a more tha accommodating, and with notice, park is free and easy. We had a family room that comfortably slept 3 guys, 22 of us in total, for a footy trip , space out the front for mini bus parking

Would probably not stay here for more than a night (2 at most). It is safe to say we got what we paid for and at the end of the day it was a cheap (compared to other hotels in melbourne) budget hotel - a place to store our belongings and a bed to sleep. The bed sheets and towels were the only things that were clean. TV didn't work properly, some channels lost signal, remote didn't work. Bathroom vanity falling apart and no air vent. Floor could of done with a good vacuum (especially under the beds were chips from before we arrived quite possibly from the previous guests and were still there when we left). The walls are thin and the pipes are noisy from the bathroom. We were able to hear the guests next door. The mattresses are in poor condition. The springs were broken on half the bed and both beds are uncomfortable to sleep on, resulting in a poor night's sleep (as mentioned above, not ideal to stay for more than 1 night - 2 at most). Just in case you get laughed (literally) at for asking "is our parking spot guaranteed'' (we did advise the hotel we required a car spot), there are around 15 spots under the hotel for guests to park their cars for free. They are not numbered/allocated so its first in first served. There are some off street parking close by however are for 1 hour between 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday so would be ok to leave overnight without time restriction. Both options are parking at own risk. Service by reception is basic at best. Don't expect too much. Have encounter 3 different staff members. One of the Men did a good job, wish he was there more than just a couple hours on one of the mornings. All in all if you are visiting melbourne overnight, this hotel might be ok for an overnighter. If your intending on staying for several nights/days with big daily activities (lots of walking/touring etc) it's highly recommended to go somewhere else that will provide a better quality sleeping environment.

Look the room is basic, but it's spacious and clean and I think worth the price. The staff get a big thumbs up, they moved a few things around and allowed me to check in early after a drive from SA with no fuss or drama. They went above and beyond and gave good banter and even a breakfast suggestion (black kettle is awesome by the way). Room again clean, well stocked, surprisingly spacious and the bed was comfy. Shower was fine if anything and now just being picky, some paint on bottom of tub was peeling. Good location, cheap, friendly.

This hotel is not cyclist friendly. I was not permitted to put my $15,000 bicycle in my room for safety despite me having a drop sheet for it plus it was spotlessly clean. The manager was extremely rude and I asked did he have a room where it could be stored safely and he said "no". I had to leave it in my car overnight despite his parking having signs saying the hotel was not responsible for valuables left in the car. We were told on arrival there would be no room service to our room as the cleaning staff were not coming in. The room itself was clean. The bed was extremely firm. The hallways were in need to refurbishment particularly the carpet and the lift was very clunky and made you feel your life was in potential danger just hopping in it. Other than the above the location is good and it is cheap .... that's so but cyclists be aware.

If these walls could talk they would sound like an episode of Prisoner. Stale cigarettes and terrible laundry habits. The chain lock was broken which added to the sense of safety provided by the wobbly key. I mean metal key. Like in a goddamn Jane Austen novel.

The staff at this premise were extremely rude and actually quite frighteningly nasty to deal with. The female attendant yelled at me. We were denied access & monies taken. The place looks like a hostel. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY & refer to previous reviews.

There was a slight smell of decay when we entered our room but the bed was comfortable and the shower had good hot water and pressure. The people at reception were welcoming and there was free parking on site. Good location to walk to South Melbourne restaurants. The sound proofing is good and we couldn't hear the traffic noise from Kingsway.

Not a good place to enjoy your stay. The restaurant was not running though they advertised inside restaurant facility. No drinking water facility available unless you are happy to drink from toilet tap. No microwave oven facility.
