We stayed 2 nights in room 1405, there were 2 couples and we had booked a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. We had booked on line and we disappointed our booking was mucked up and we had to stay in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment. To the staff credit they refunded a large chunk immediately and we really apologetic saying it is much better to book directly with them. Because we’re staying for New Year’s Eve the view of the fireworks from the balcony was stunning. This is the 6th year we have stayed in various apartments and we coped pretty well considering the toilet is in the bathroom. The apartment was clean enough but the furniture is pretty cheap, bedside table legs ready to fall apart and very wonky. No mirrors in bedroom only 1 in lounge. Touches like a good coffee machine, more tea assortment would have been great. Beds were ok as were pillows but again cheap. The highlight is the balcony view. Noise was never a problem for sleeping nor was train noise. We have booked for same time this year in apartment with 2 bathrooms. We had a great time but it will be interesting to see the difference internally. Last year we stayed at Northbank, the apartment was amazing but train noise deafening so because of Auras location and views we will give it another try. Overall loved location because you could walk as little or as much and it’s a much quieter area away from all the bustle just don’t stay in 1405 unless it has been refurbished.

Really tidy neat apartments for short stays. We stayed 3 nights and were more than comfortable. Room contained fridge as well as dishwasher and washer and dryer which was a nice addition particularly as it rained. Very clean only downside was the two beds were originally set up too close to the bedroom door but some reshuffling fixed this and there was a wet spot on the floor which obviously from a cleaning accident.
Super location close to everything. Will definitely be keeping this accomadation in mind for future city visits.

We stayed here for 3 nights I booked because of the convenient location whic it was close to many parts of the city. When we arrived at the apartment we were disappointed with a few important things it was clean but furniture was old and grimy, the bed was hard and uncomfortable felt like you were sleeping on cardboard even the mattress topper was no help pillows were also old and rundown. Air conditioner was at the end of the lounge room and did nothing to help the airflow in the bedroom. One of the things I was really looking forward to was the view which is a huge selling point, this is why I paid extra for the balcony. Our view was of an office block showing none of the view. I think there are some excellent accommodations in this building unfortunately we didn’t get one of those. Next time we’ll book at The Holiday Inn at least it is clean with a nice bed and good airflow in the room!

I booked the apartment for three nights based on the description and photos provided in the promotional material. We arrived at 11.45pm as advised and were immediately disappointed. The carpet was worn and stained, the couch so stained it looked like it came from a tip shop. The fridge had mould all around the seal and thick ice around the ice box. The door to the deck did not lock and it was only a short span to the deck next door. Benchtop and fruit bowl were covered in marks and finger prints. A towel in the cupboard had pink stains (mould??) on it - I didn't touch it to investigate further. The view was non existent, certainly not as shown in photos online. Our twin beds were not made despite requesting this in the booking. Staff did fix the beds but due to the late arrival we had no option but to stay the night. I cancelled the next two nights and was refunded less than I paid. We left at 10am the next morning to return to our room at 11:45am to collect our luggage from our room (we were allowed a late checkout due following my complaint). Our room had been made up and our luggage removed to storage so we could not use the room if we had chose to. I booked Oaks on Market for the remaining two days where the accommodation was excellent. The reception staff at Aura were great but that is the ONLY positive thing I can say. Hugely disappointed as I booked Aura believing it to be a quality property based on the pictures and the price which was certainly not budget.
I made a written complaint to management three days ago and have not received a response or even an acknowledgement.

Me and my partner stayed in the one bedroom apartment with balcony on the 14th floor for 8 nights.
It was easy to find the hotel and the staff were nice. We didnt come across any problems or waiting for long periods with the elevators. Convenient location ,near by breakfast and lunch spots were perfect to go to before heading into the city. The apartment was a home away from home . Good king size bed, little lounge with aircon and tv. A desk to use for the lap top/make up. Bathroom was clean/tidy. The kitchen was great size. The cleaners would come towards mid-day/early afternoon to attend the room which is perfect for us as we like to sleep in. The balcony was just like the photos with the river side view and my partner was allowed to smoke on the balcony. We seen some great episodes of thunder and lighten from the bedroom! The only con's we had was the blinds had gaps and when the sun rises , the whole room lights up and becomes a hot box. Also the aircon is out in the lounge so you had to keep the door open to try cool down the room but that allowed more light shining on one side of the bed... however for the early birds out there, this wont be much of a problem.
Overall we were pretty happy about our stay and it was great having the washing maching and clothing rack!(dryer is available) I would highly recommend this place to family and friends who are looking for comfort, modern and just out of the main strip but still close enough the walk.

The location of this place is awesome. The higher floor you stay, the better the views. We were on the 21st floor and the view from the balcony blew you away. The dazzling city lights at night, looking out towards Southbank, the Yarra and MCG. Its around a 5 minute walk to Southern cross train and coach station. The same distance to Collins St. Lots of places to eat nearby. Dominoes pizza is across the road and Nandos. Kebab shops aplenty (try the HSP mixed kebabs). Sea world is a 2 minute walk away. The immigration museum is around 3 minutes walk away. The victorian market can be reached within a 15 minute slow stroll. There are 2 tram stops near the hotel and in the free travel zone. For travel further afield then purchase a myki card. The cost is $6 around £3.00 and then just top up what you need. The apartment staff are most friendly and the room service guys very nice too. You can request the frequency of your room being serviced. We chose every day. Only down side is the elevator system, it can take you on an up and down ride if others get in after you. But that is a small price to pay for this accommodation

1. On checkin into a 2 bedroom apartment, around 10.30pm neither of the men were welcoming at all, could hardly lift their heads up to serve us. No greeting no smile.
2. On getting into the room, we found the second bedroom locked. We called the main number, they said they would come up. 20 minutes later and noone has showed up so I called again. The response this time from the man was “you only booked for one room”. Clearly he said this without even checking our booking. He then came up and unlocked it - it was 11.30pm at this stage.
3. The toilet in the second bathroom was not flushing properly and the toilet seat in the main bathroom needed tightening
4. Upon checkin into an IPAD I was asked how often we wanted the towels changed, I checked "daily". Not once over our stay did the towels get changed.
5. The carpet in the foyer needed vacuuming
6. The remote for the TV didn’t work properly.
7. There are no exhaust fans in the bathrooms - is this not a building requirement?
8. Bedrooms so small can only walk around one of the sides.
9. No drawers in either bedroom to unpack your clothes and no room for suitcases
either

Well like so many other bad or average reviews, I feel I need to add to them. I usually only write good reviews but like others before me I needed to share. We stayed recently for 2 nights on the 11th floor. Fabulous view and bed was relatively comfy and clean. That's where the good stuff ends. Here's my list, Broken bedside table lamps, dirty and marked walls, filthy lid on the bid, coffee cup with stains (obviously not washed), plastic still on the top of the fridge that is there when you make a purchase, cooking utensils in draw filthy with food still on them, dishwasher out of order, couch extremely uncomfortable and covered in stains, carpet needs a good wash and vacuum, blinds very warn, green streamer left on a picture, long metal spikes underneath the glass table that would nearly take your leg off (not even sure why they would be there?). This place needs proper housekeeping staff to clean clean clean. We were asked if we wanted towels changed on our second night, but I declined as it wasn't warranted, but should have asked for a deep clean of the apartment instead. When we did check in the guy was very pleasant. When we checked out no one asked us what our stay was like, and if asked I would have told them 'politely' that a totally cleanse is required. We did get an interesting totally greasy look from some girl who was hanging around the reception desk talking to the staff, could have been a worker, not sure but seriously what's with the looks. As mentioned by previous people staying, it is noisy, trains, trains and trains, nightclub also across the road has some pleasant sounding thumping music (if you like that sort of thing)!!! So I'm chalking this one up to a $518 experience that I don't think I want to repeat. I don't like writing bad reviews but seriously you have had so many bad reviews and you just say 'oh looks like we missed the mark' or 'not meeting expectations'. If you are serious about your business, please take note of all the comments good and bad and try and rectify, otherwise you are seriously ripping people off. I noted in the email that was sent to me from the hotel advising that If we have any suggestions to please convey our ideas to the front desk or send an email as you are always striving to improve. Well I hope Management at Aura does just that after reading this, Improves.

We booked a place at Empire Apartment. A few days before the trip they told us they needed to move us to this place and we didn’t have a choice. Lights broken, unclean place, rooms have no locks, rooms are nothing like the picture. The day we moved out they said everything is fine and they will return the $400 bond. One week later they haven’t returned the bond. When you call up they hung up on you.

The room we had could only be described as average at best. Even though the description on Trip Adviser states this is a new build, the state of the room would suggest different.
The room showed signs of wear and tear consistent with there being considerable use. This is not to say it was bad, just that the description is not accurate.
On arrival, we were checking in and noticed someone sleeping on the furniture in the foyer. It turns out that it was a homeless person and the staff were promptly asking him to move on, but why was this not done when he came in and not after he had sleeping there for, I don’t know how long.
Reception staff were friendly and efficient so we were off to our room.
On entry, the room appeared adequate, especially for the price we paid. Furniture was adequate and it seemed to be OK. On closer inspection, there was a bit of wear and tear on the skirting boards and the shower, but basically OK.
The bed was probably the worst motel bed I have slept on. Not a comfortable bed at all, quite hard.
When you used the toilet, if you lifted the seat the wrong way it would come off in your hands. Again, an indication of being well used.
The Air conditioner would not work. It was not hot or too cold, but it would have been nice to have a little temperature warm up first thing in the morning, but no go.
The location is quite good, located a short walk from coffee shops, Crown Casino, Southern Cross Train Station and plenty of Tram stops. We stayed because we were going on a cruise the next day so it was a short walk to Tram 109.
The laneway that front the hotel was full of garbage’s to be collected, so much that you could not use the footpath and had to walk on the road. Not the hotels fault, but still annoying.
I don’t think I would stay here again
