This is a place that is a budget hotel, so I guess we paid for what we got. I would rather pay another $10 per night and have cleaner carpet, the room painted and more attention to cleaning. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean and good pillows. There is also a communal fridge in...

Vicki on the front desk is the most lovely woman, so helpful and kind and addressed us by name. The location here was excellent and surprisingly quiet. The beds weren't that great on the back but for the price, location and friendly smile it was excellent.

Very well located, very close to Federation Square and other main attractions. Room was clean and ok, a little bit worse than "Ibis standard" - the shower area was small. Breakfast could be improved. Check-in and check-out very quick. We took the bus shuttle from the airport and they left us in front of the hotel, very convenient.

It does the job, its budget and not luxury by any means...would i come back? Yes, i had clean towels and sheets and a place to sleep & shower. The carpet is stained and the walls are marked, powerpoints are lacking for more than 2 people

Of all the accommodation I had stayed in 5 cities in Australia, this was the worst. The room was shabby, from the carpet to the toilet (which reeked of cigarette smoke) and "bathroom", which was basically a basin behind curtains and a shower. The room itself was a fair size, with a queen bed and double decker beds but there...

I stayed in the Ibis Budget for 3 nights with my daughter in late November. We visited Melbourne as I wanted to attend Equitana and she wanted to shop. I found the hotel very very clean! Room was attended to daily and sheets were crisp and towels replaced each day were spotlessly clean. Bathroom and toilet also spotless. The room...

If you pay $70 a night for a hotel room in the best location in the heart of the city you can't complain about anything, I have stayed here many times when I know I will be 90% outside and 10% in my hotel room(just sleeping). This hotel is perfect for this reason, I travel solo which again makes this...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
