We liked the house and the room, it was clean and comfortable. However, the hostel is full of reprimanding notices and warnings to wash dishes, not to lose keys and a lot of other things, which makes you feel less like a paying guest and more like a student at a boarding school. I think the staff's attitude could really...

Thanks for your comments on the notices. Staff can get a bit carried away at times. We will review this. We have recently made some of the outside communal areas Smokefree and have a few more signs up than normal. I am glad you found things clean and comfortable. I am surprised that we were the only place you found...

I have been to few hostels around Auckland, but this one was one of best. Overall evaluation - helpfull and friendly staff, comfy beds, young vibe, big kitchen and living area, free parking. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about Bamber House. Would definitely recommend this place. Keep up doing great work!

Thanks for your comments. My staff appreciate the feedback. We provide an alternative to the busy, impersonal inner city hostels. We are one of the few hostels in Auckland which has a car park which is a bonus for our guests with cars. Being is a lovely residential area like Mt Eden helps.

Bamberhouse was lovely! A good place to recover from jetlag : ). With beautiful mount Eden nearby it is a very good place to get some rest and see some of the less busy sides of Auckland. There's also a really good connection to the city centre with bus stops nearby. Very friendly staff and everyone is very easy-going. In...

I hope the rest of your trip is going well. We enjoy sharing our guests plans and hearing how they went. Bamber House is a 100 year old colonial mansion set in large ground on the slopes of Mt Eden which is Auckland's highest extinct volcano. It is a great place to get a view of the city on a...

Bamber house was lovely. I came in straight from a 13 hour flight and was completely jetlagged and a bit homesick. Everyone was super nice and the places they recommended to go were great. It was a nice place to crash for the beginning of my trip.

That is great Julia. At least the weather has improved again. There are so many great cafes, bars and restaurants in the local area and some of them are very affordable. Mt Eden is an iconic Auckland neighbourhood with a slightly bohemian feel and lots of artists and craftsmen living in the local area.

Bamber House is a great hostel! In a lovely part of town, easy bus connections to the city (though if you're there for more than a few days I'd advise getting one of the tap on transport cards... Paying $3.50 cash each way can start to add up). Facilities were great with heaps of room and pleasant outdoors areas. Great...

Thanks for your comments. We have been trying to find a way to access AT hop cards for our guests. It is a relatively new product but it is worth getting one if you are in Auckland for more than a couple of days. Still cheaper than paying for car parking though. On a good day I enjoy walking into...

Thanks for your review. Mt Eden and it's walking tracks are so close. You will see locals as well as tourists as it is a popular exercise area as well as being one of Auckland's most visited tourism attractions. We are also close to shops and banks and post offices for all those things you need.

We stayed in a 6 person bunk room on the bottom floor (rm 12) for one night. Bunk beds were comfy (bedding included), but squeaky. We booked in Oct'16, ready for the concert in Feb'17. Goods job too, as they were fully booked. There are hot showers and a toilet available down the hall. Kitchen was fully equipped. Comfortable lounge...

Thanks for your comments. There is a shortage of accommodation in Auckland during busy times and it pays to think ahead. Most of our bunk rooms now have wooden bunks which are less noisy and we are gradually changing them all over. Our showers are always popular with good water pressure and a great supply of hot water.

We are happy you enjoyed the hostel. It is our high season and all of Auckland is very busy but we have more toilets and showers and bigger communal areas than most hostels. We also almost never run out of hot water. Mt Eden is a great place to stay if you don't need to be right in the city...

The hostel is a beautiful colonial building with garden, deck and off street parking in a quiet suburb, with good transport links to the city and a short walk from Mt Eden, and local shops. Great hostel. We were automatically upgraded from a double to a double ensuite. Our room was like a cute beach shack, was comfortable, spacious and they had a lovely garden area. Didn't use the communal spaces that day but I'm considering staying again the day before my flight. Would recommend.
