I did not expect this from Metropolis. I booked a room with these guys via booking.com for the 18th of November and the website said that I had free cancellation anytime before the 16th of November. I cancelled 2 months before the date and regardless of that they charged me the full amount plus parking charges on the 18th, claiming... More

This place still looks grand but is very tired building well overdue for s face lift. Still enjoyed my stay and really enjoyed it's close proximity to the city, restaurants and cafe. I would stay here again

I stayed here several years ago when it first opened – it was seen as an audacious undertaking when built. It’s Gotham like appearance and height arrogantly strutting the Auckland skyline. Today, perhaps through familiarity, it seems a to have gained some humility, not least as a result of the many city high-rises that have appeared since it was built.... More

We have been staying here for a week and it is just brilliant. The apartment may not be huge but is perfectly appointed and comfortably decorated. We have travelled a lot and this is one of the nicest apartments we have stayed in. We are on the 20th floor and have stunning views over the harbour where we can see... More

We were there for about a week and found almost everything in the room to be dated and uncomfortable. from the sofa feeling like it had been there for 10 years to the TV not working properly to the fridge/freezer not freezing. The spa didn't bubble and the rooms were noisy. Every time we tried to complain we got the... More

As someone who likes to crash on the bed and watch the news when I've had a day of meetings this hotel was a little frustrating. No TV in the bedroom and the TV in the 'lounge' area wasn't positioned for comfortable viewing. Was also a little miffed that the curtains didn't close fully so didn't block out the light... More

Needed somewhere central for mid week night, this was perfect. Check in easy, not hard to find! Bed a bit soft was only criticism. Easy walk to Queen St, and plenty of restaurants/bars handy. Parking cheap, and easy to access. Will use again!

The Metropolis is fantastic, for a building that is about 20 years old, it still exudes quality, the fit out has been done in timeless quality materials. The location is perfect, food venues everywhere at the door step. The views if you get a high level room are excellent, it was lovely waking to a view of the Auckland harbour.
