Is definetly a good place to live or stay long, you have to feel it, is not a place for turists. Really convenient for people who works in gisborne. You can stay in your tent or room. Very cheap rate per week, big common areas, pingpong room and huge equiped kitchen.

The price is really good, it's 21 nzd per night and you are paying 2 nzd extra for bedsheets. The old lady, who is running the hostel is really unfriendly and weird. The check in took me about 15 min because i had to wait for her many times. Guests are also not allowed

Upon arrival, the kitchen, toilets and showers were so dirty. The staff weren't as bad. Said they offer free pick up from the bus station, rang the hostel but no response from anyone. One of the worst hostel in the North Island.

Strange atmosphere around the place, a bit dirty. Other than that no problems. The 'flying nun' lady Who runs the place has been getting a lot of grief on this for being impolite or sarcastic. I thought she was nice, considering she is running a hostel in an old nun convent

This place is original and creepy at the same time. It used to be a convent (I didn't know this when I booked) and you really get the feeling that you are in an unusual place. Honestly, I liked the feeling. The bad thing, like many other New Zealand hostels, was the heating. Cold nights!

Stayed in a room made for 5, and one of the bunk beds was 3 regular beds stacked on top of each other. It was pretty cool. Our room also had stained glass windows and was super quiet, which was nice. Loads of cats wandering around and a cute puppy too! The place was large and full of weird character,...

I stayed at the Flying Nun for 2 months because I was working, like the majority of people when I was staying there (and from what i've heard, it always is the case). There are a lot of people living there, a lot of rooms are shared accommodation for long-term, it's cheap, it can be dirty, but once you make...

When we arrived, the owner complained about having to come down stairs and serve us because she had just done so 5 mins ago and had a hurt foot. I have all the sympathy in the world for her foot, but she needed to work out some help for herself or at least not blame us for this situation. The...

Stayed for a week, in the start of low season. Maybe this was the reason but I loved it!. Is full of spots to hang out. Caravans on the back yard. Ping pong, tv room. It's so big that you can hang till late and not bother anybody. Really good showers!. And super cheap :) The lady that owns it...
