We unexpectedly arrived late. This was no problem at all. No form filling in, no paying. Just "go to bed, tomorrow's another day ". Lots of thick comfy towels. A big room. Very clean. Two minute walk to lovely cafe for morning coffee and a beach walk. Tv in each room. Will definitely stay again.

Staff were super friendly and really helpful. The location is highly recommended. We were without a car for two days and the Lodge is situated close to public transport and also close to the city in reach for all the amenities. The room was clean and the staff do everything to keep up with high levels of service. This is...

Keep in mind that the Captain Cook Motor Lodge is pretty much your standard New Zealand motel accommodation. Having said that, five stars for the friendly, helpful staff and service, the immaculate cleanliness of the units (done daily), the great location. Ten minutes walk to main Gisborne shopping street, 5 minutes to the lovely Waikanae Beach. Ample parking. Free, fast...

We had connecting rooms with privacy doors. A Porta cot had been set up in one room and this is the first time I've encountered the cot made up sheets and blankets and extra cloths for spills plus a big fleece blanket if needed. Staff were very helpful and friendly nothing too much trouble . Rooms were very generous size...

I only stayed one night but was delighted with the friendliness of the staff, the standard of the room and the proximity to the CBD. was in Gisborne on business so booked one of the cheapest rooms only to find that it exceeded my expectations - very warm, comfortable, very clean and adequately stocked. I particularly valued the restaurant being...

the motor inn is just outside the small centre of the town and was easily identified. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was small but very well equipped and very clean. The bed was marvelously comfortable and the linens spotless cotton. The bathroom was en suit, small but again well appointed a small fridge and table with two chairs...

Captain Cook is quiet, friendly, well located, clean and very reasonably priced. The new owners welcomed me and looked after me. I walked into town for dinner which helped stretch my legs after a long drive, but I could have eaten in the motel restaurant. A good place to stay when in Gizzy.

We only stayed one night but found the room to be clean and warm. Bed was very comfortable. We booked an economy queen room but would suggest a bigger one if staying longer. Ideally situated for an early morning start if travelling further up the coast as we were. Being right on SH 35 may make this place a little...

My wife and I checked into this motel at 2.00pm and a separate communal kitchen facilities were offered to us to make drinks and meals. We took advantage of the nearby coastal walks and other sites associated with Captain Cook's landing on the NZ soil on 09-10-1769.
