We unfortunately had a very tiny room ( the old nursery) which lacked a number of amenities, e.g. A fridge, a bedside lamp to read by on only one side of the bed, very limited space to move around. The noise of the plumbing from the neighbouring room was extremely loud, enough to wake me from sleep at 6 a.m...

This estate lodge provides an outstanding experience in all respects. The rooms are spacious and most comfortable and the staff was very friendly, helpful and flexible to accommodate our needs. The master chef, Andy, prepared an unbelievable dinner for us with the trout we had caught in Taupo lake that day. This was clearly one of the best accommodations we...

Thank you very much for your review. One of the benefits of Andy being focused on true farm to table or lake to table in your case. Ormlie, being a former home is there to be enjoyed and so much better when it feels like a "home".

The food we ordered was excellent. The French Maître was very knowledgeable about wine and wine regions. The service was excellent and the setting very elegant. The only negative was the menu, which I did not find very interesting and there wasn't a large selection. Unfortunately the dessert menu wasn't much better, none were to our liking - one particularly...

Dear Rob, Appreciate your balanced review. Our menu is designed in such a way we can balance offering a selection of dishes to ensure the very best and freshest ingredients can be used. Too often we prep and food may not be used based on smaller numbers of guests in our restaurant, given our focus is on quality not quantity....

We dined at Ormlie Lodge on Valentines Day. From the moment we arrived the service was attentive and professional. The food was all beautiful presented and the flavours were perfect. The timing between courses was ideal, giving us enough time to look outside at the beautiful surrounding gardens. My partner said the dessert was the best he has ever eaten,...

From the moment we were welcomed and shown to our room until the moment we left , we felt "At Home". Fabulously Friendly and Caring Staff. Well cared for, beautifully presented and clean room with a large and comfortable bed. Loved that we could walk out onto the Balcony and sit and listen to the birds , have a coffee...

Warm personal welcome to this beautiful historic estate. Perfectly located on a large private property amongst manicured gardens. Across the way from the Napier Golf Course and close proximity to the Art Decor Centre of Napier and many wineries. The rooms were beautifully appointed with top quality beds and furnishings including new contempory bathrooms. Beautiful wrap around balcony leading from...

We stayed for two nights and regret not booking more. A lovely heritage boutique hotel, set in lovely gardens. It is set away from the main road so we had a really quiet sleep. If you have a car it is close to all the attractions the Hawke's bay has to offer. It is not far from Napier golf course...

Dear Jet_Oz, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Ormlie is a special place, being built as a wedding present for Sir William Nelson's daughter - Gertrude. If only he could see the place now ... being enjoyed by many from around the world. Best wishes, The 'O' Team

We were upgraded to a balcony room when we got here and it couldn't have been better. The room was exquisitely decorated and being able to enjoy time on the balcony was a bonus. We loved having a glass of wine there at the end of the day. We had dinners there both evenings and they were excellent.

Elegant surroundings, set among mature trees, with well tended garden borders situated with glimpses of the Napier coast through the trees. The menu featured excellently designed selections of local foods. The service was first class and the proprietors and staff were efficient and charming. We will definitely revisit this fine food restaurant.
