My boyfriend and I stayed here for just over 2 weeks over the Christmas and new year period and we loved every minute of it. Jake and Nikki were absolutely lovely hosts and managed to work out our stay to accommodate what we wanted without fuss. We stayed in a double room, twin room and dorm during our stay and...

Just walked into his hostel and asked for a double private room, he said the hostel was full but if we were staying for 2 nights or more he had a shared house or studio flat. House was beautiful but we stayed in the studio. Just 5 mins from the beach set in beautiful woodlands it was perfect. Fully equipped...

Stayed at The Mousetrap for close to a week while I was in Paihia. Very cosy and homely hostel, lots of plush armchairs, big lounge upstairs to relax and socialize. Not a party hostel, it's mostly quiet, though there's a bar and other hostels across the street where a lot of the noise came from. Clean rooms, showers, and toilet...

This is the one of the better small hotels we've ever stayed in, it is an excellent and interesting place to stay for any age group of travellers. You may relax in the upper lounge where you can enjoy the ocean and mountain view. For most of the time, the hotel itself is a quiet place, in the evening you...

We originally planned to stay 2 nights but added a 3rd. Very clean hostel and quiet after 11 pm. Still friendly and social. Lovely owners. After 11, only socializing in a small area downstairs which is a wee bit restrictive. Disappointed in the free coffee and tea (no milk or sugar, first time I ever saw that!). I realize that...

My daughter took me on a roadtrip from Queenstown to Paihia in 10 days and this was the nicest cleanest best-managed hostel of all we've been. Warm atmosphere thanks to Jake and Nikki and the kind of travellers they attract.

I was surprised at how big it was! Nice chill out areas throughout, a couple of lounges, TVs, balcony seating in sunshine, a good dining space, a small cooking space but I think there's a couple throughout the hostel for designated rooms, a cute small garden/patio area (very picturesque!) I feel like it was lacking in things to do, I...
