The facilities were ok. The real downfall of the place was the unfriendly, unhelpful and sexist staff members. When we asked for help we got laughed at and weren't given any helpful suggestions. Furthermore, we were talked down to and were made to feel like a nuisance. We will definitely not be coming back here and will not be recommending...

This accommodation is in perfect place near the centre od city. Rooms are clear and in kitchen is everything which you need. If you want you can use whirlpool. There is a great atmosphere. Many young people with similar sentiments.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 1 week in July 2016. We originally booked a dormitory room but decided to treat ourselves and upgraded to a double room ensuite with no problem. We were initially unsure of what to expect but shouldn't have worried as we loved our stay here. On arrival we were greeted by the owner Jack...

Had an opportunity on a northland motorcycle trip to spend a night @ Centabay lodge. What a friendly place for cheap digs, couldn't ask for much more for much less. Clean, fresh and friendly after a hard day's riding - awesome. Had a chat to the owner (Jack), if you're a rider, he's got some great advice and tips about...

Good location, room was clean and had an ensuite. The problem was with people who were working here (WOOFers). Firstly our washing was taken out of the dryer just after it started by someone and remained wet. Also, others were drunk and set fire extinguisher off in kitchen. Dry powder was all over floor, food surfaces, utensils, in toasters and...

Hi Centabay, I am a bit late with my review. I stayed and worked here in the summer of 2006. I dont low if Darren is still around, but he was great! I will never forget this place, I had the best time.

I stayed in a 4 bed dormitory for 2 nights. The room was pretty clean and the bathroom was ok. On our first day, the kitchen was a terrible mess but it got better in the next days. The inside probably needs refreshments, but the outdoor area is great - I really enjoyed spending time there. The place instantly gave...

As a mature couple we found this backpackers lodge good value for money, our private room which had a small kitchen, toilet and shower was clean and comfortable. The communal areas were also kept clean. The manager Jack and the house keeping team run a tight ship! It was a great place to meet people who had travelled from across...

The guesthouse us centrally located in Paihia and this makes it fairly easy to get around. the walls are quite thin though, so you can hear the next room. Although this was initially funny hearing them having sex it soon grew old! Showers were not the cleanest area. The shower mats were soaking and not changed in 3 days.

I stayed in a 4 bed dorm, maybe the private rooms are differently treated. According to my experiences with other hostels, this one was quite dirty: the shower curtain was molded (but got changed, when I told them), kitchen were towels very dirty (but they said they get changed twice a day...), the washbasins were stuffed (I made the cleaning...
