Nice backpackers hostel with about 8 rooms, making it not too big and crowdy. Beds and rooms are basic but fine. A kitchen for general use with shared fridge. The shared toilets and showers are fine. Washing machine can be used and there is a central room for eating and watching tv. The hostel is good located in the centre...

It's a centrally located hostel, good if you have day trips starting real early from isite. It's a small, cosy and clean place. However, kitchen closes at night and wouldn't open till 7am, which means if you need to leave prior to that you have no access to breakfast or food in the kitchen. Over the weekend live band performs...

Centrally located to local amenities, the I-Site and buses. The owner was incredibly helpful with suggesting top places in the area to do, see and experience, from walks of Rotorua to events further afield. The bathroom facilities were either communal or just female, but coming during peak season I never had to wait, they were spacious and very clean. The...

Blarneys Rock was a nice small hostel with cool people and good front desk help with discounts, ideas of free activities and bike rental. Dave the owner was very helpful although I was sort of weirded out by all of the notes of what you couldn't do. Like fines for accidentally setting off the fire alarm! I also was concerned...

The hostel was small (only 1 floor) and quite old. There was a small kitchen, which got busy very quickly during dinner time. Also, the scents from the kitchen spread very quickly to my dorm room. The bathrooms were clean and working fine, but I had to walk through the living room to get a shower. When I was there,...

Had a very enjoyable stay. Rooms fine, kitchen spacious and clean. Nice lounge area with TV and lots of DVDs. Cool communal balcony to sit in the sun. Dave, who runs the place, couldn't have been more helpful. He booked our Hobbiton experience and Waitomo Caves trip - two of our absolute highlights from our time in NZ. We also...

Everything about this place was great. Very good value for money. The owner was away so we were taken care of by Ian, what a lovely guy. He gave us lots of tips on the area and things to see (and not). He also gave us discount vouchers for some of the places we wanted to visit. The place was...

My friend and i absolutely loved this place. The location was so perfect, right in town and Dave who works there was so helpful. He booked all our activities for us with discounts, told us places to eat and even places to go out and drink. We booked for 2 nights originally but ended up staying for 4! The first...

I chose this hostel as I wanted a central location but I didn't checked the details on the hostel website and relied on relatively positive reviews on TripAdvisor. However, this was a miss for us. I was traveling with my pre-teennage son, and we had planned to stay thursday-Sunday. Unfortunately, the place is right above an irish pub with live...

“There are mixed and non-mixed dorms. Up to you. It fills up quick because it's not as big as the major hostels so book in advance!”

“I was in room 5 and I think this was a good choice, as it was furthest away from the bathrooms, which would have been noisy at night and in the morning, and it was most out of the way, so had the least traffic int eh hallway. Although it is still off the common area, so bring some ear plugs!”
