Place is very well designed with a massive kitchen. Atmosphere is pretty quiet and chilled but it is a YHA after all! Rooms were simple and clean and the staff very friendly. Just a short walk from the geo thermal park which is a must do

Stayed a couple of nights in a private double. The hostel overall is very large and clean. However the bathroom was horrible compared to other hostels the shower was all metal and felt like you were showering in a prison cubicle. Dirty shower curtain also. Very small room size also. No acces to fans and the room got very warm....

Partner and I stayed for one night to break up a long drive south from Auckland. The staff were great and our room was tidy and comfortable. There was no mention of the YHA car park across the road or whether we needed to provide the car details to park there for free. Alas, it was a public holiday so...

Pretty convenient location. A short walk to the government gardens and convenience store. The rooms are reasonably sized. The kitchen and fridge have more than enough space. Free wifi. Parking is available just across the road and it's free.

I believe this YHA is the best out of all the YHA in New Zealand. Modern and central, Clean and tidy, free unlimited WiFi, open kitchen with all you need, entertainment area, TV area.....Helps of parking outside the building ( paid 9am- 5pm).

Booked one family room for 2 nights thru Agoda.com. Very easy to find because it is located in the centre of Rotorua city. Walking distance to Rotorua Lake and Thursday night market. Bought Tamaki Maori Village tickets at the hostel reception, which is cheaper than purchase online. Kitchen is large, clean and fully equipped, shared bathrooms are clean too. Highly...

Its a shame the room was so poor. The staff were great in reception, and the other facilities were good but the room really was terrible. There were hairs all over and in the bed. The bed sheets were covered in stains and the carpet was filthy. Really would not go back in a million years.

Stayed here for 2 nights and as soon as we got here, we loved it. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hostel was unbelievably clean, our room was spacious and bright during the day, but curtains kept the light out at night/mornings. We wish we could have stayed longer because we liked it there so much. Free wifi worked...

Maybe we were expecting a bit much but we'd had an excellent experience at Franz Josef YHA the week before. The pluses: lovely setting, opposite a geothermal park and an easy walk to the main sights in Rotorua, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, parking and polite service (although it does feel that staff have a lot on their plate). The minuses:...
