Comfortable Motel next door to the race course that is reasonably priced. We decided to stay at The Saddle and Sulky because it was pet friendly and it was just that. Friendly and warm at reception also. Our room was clean and tidy but quite run down but this is an older establishment. Overall I would stay again.

Accommodation in New Plymouth is surprisingly and inexplicably pricey. This motel is at the lower end of the local cost scale and if you allow for that, it's a perfectly good option for a "cheap" night, relatively speaking. Service is good, the rooms are clean and of a good size, location is handy and the beds comfortable. It feels like...

The Saddle and Sulky is a nice motel on the main road, next to the race course. Although an older establishment is very comfortable and had a fully kitted kitchenette. We got a great discounted winter deal.

Location is just few minutes from the centre. The person on the desk was very friendly and so was his dog. The room is spacious and warm. The bed was not comfortable though. I didnt sleep well. Although for the price of $90 per night for a room that can accommodate up to 3 people is not too bad. Best...

Our young family enjoyed a trip to New Plymouth staying at the Saddle and Sulky. This is a great motel for kids! The rooms are large and nice and warm, with plenty of space for kids to hoon about and a trampoline outside. The showers have good pressure too. The motel is just a couple of minutes walk to Pukekura...

Your regular retro type motel but very clean and spacious. Great for family + dog. Well equipped. Ground floor fine for littlies. Would avoid the top floor rooms due to original balcony rails probably not current building standard. Friendly owners.

We have four children and stayed for two nights over a long weekend. We weren't in quick enough to get one of the popular family units but were able to get two adjacent rooms with a connecting door. Lovely motel with large very clean rooms, a great shower, comfortable beds and a great location with a very easy walk to...

New management at a well established motel right next to the race course hence the name. Probably an 80s built motel but very clean and well presented. Very helpful and friendly reception. Unfortunately our IPad's would not connect to the WiFi but we were the exception, no one else had problems. The motel is not too far from the CBD....

We booked in here through bookings.com for NZ$143 for a one bedroom apartment. The motel is located a 2 minute drive from the centre of New Plymouth directly adjacent to Pukakura Racecourse. We received a very warm welcome and directed to our spacious ground floor apartment which contained a full kitchen, a lounge with a queen and a single bed,...

This motel is clean &warm with up to date appliances also a full oven. Friendly owners off street parking. Although maybe need to only allow one parking space per unit as when we returned from an evening out there were no spots left and we had to park on the road. Good value for your money and close to everything....
