An absolutely lovely high end resort! The service was impeccable and the facilities were graceful. It's quite British and the Queen has visited it. It's a unique lodge, the only one in the world although the owner does also have properties in Fiji and South Africa. We had a very romantic birthday dinner in the wine cellar. It's right on...

We have been at the lodge for lunch - it was outstanding. Location, food, most of the people super friendly - a place to collect freedom and energy. There was unfortunately one lady who was very judging, as we are with 30 years of age, rather young guests. She made it obvious she thinks we can not afford the experience....

New Zealand is an amazing country, you must visit. As incorrigible travelers and foodies, we tried to stay at this property which is part of the relais châteaux association where we are members. Unfortunately we tried too late and this small property was fully booked, fair enough. We decided to try to have lunch or dinner and gave them two...

Dear travelistanr1, Thank you for your review. I understand your disappointment about not being able to stay or casually dine at Huka Lodge during your visit to Taupo. As you know the lodge is a very small and intimate space and during the height of the summer season when fully booked it is not possible to accommodate casual dining requests...

This was our third time to Huka Lodge. We have traveled the world and this is one of my favorite hotels anywhere. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere is gorgeous and the food is very good. Once in awhile, the food gets a little too creative, but overall the food is fantastic. Very expensive hotel during the holidays, but always...

Words cannot express the perfection of Huka Lodge.... We were there for six nights and my wife and I left wanting more. Everything from the story book scenery (complete with a flowing brook with adorable ducklings running through the property), to the magnificent rooms (ask for one with a fireplace), to the wonderful main lodge with multiple lounging / dining...

I have been wanting to stay at Huka Lodge since it has opened and of course a visit to NZ would not have been complete without it. The rooms were lovely and spacious. The atmosphere was relaxing and I wish we had stayed for longer. The food was very good. And the service was almost perfect, except for the sommelier....

Flawless. The room design and fixtures. The grounds leading down to the river that races unbelievably fast. The way guests mingle for drinks but have a range of discrete spots for dinner. The service that's so professional but so natural. The great wine list. I could go on and on. I'd wanted to go here for so very long and...

The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. However on the negative side; the bedrooms can be seen into by anyone...

This hotel is incredible in every way. Location amazing on the banks of the river. Service impeccable from arrival to departure. Your every need anticipated. Amazing, delicious, high quality dinners. Private unique dining venues throughout the property. Lovely open wood fires in most public rooms. Hints to improve? Service at breakfast was a little hit and miss, with staff disappearing...

Tucked away in its secluded grounds with manicured lawns rolling to the rivers edge. This is real luxury. Food, staff, accommodation all exceptional. Loved the different dining location options and five tasting courses of deliciousness every night was a treat. Not to be missed.
