Good location and that's it. The rest is just awful: food, old rundown furnishing, super slow or non existent internet. Breakfast was just terrible as the room, soggy low quality food and not very attentive staff.

We stayed at the James Cook Grand Chancellor hotel for a night during a tour of the North Island. The location was just excellent, so we managed to see the harbour and museums easily. The view from our room and the hotel restaurant was excellent, and there was a very nice atmosphere. Would recommend it for a short stay in Wellington

Convenient location easy access to harbour area and museums. Pleasant helpful staff, great facilities, good for anything needed downtown. Good cafe and bar, restaurant breakfasts excellent. Clean, well kept.

Perfectly central. Elevator lets you off right in the centre of the city. Nice and quite but nothing too far away. The room was very clean and a great shower. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Bar was quite busy.

We really enjoyed our weekend. We paid for an upgrade on arrival and got a room on the 26th floor it was well worth every cent, with a great view, access to the club lounge the weekend was great. Totally recommend. The buffet breakfast had everything you would expect and a chef on making eggs however you like was great....

Overall a good place to stay, affordable for location. Lower level floors tend to be a little loud in the morning. Quite a few foreign staff who were a little hard to understand at times. Spacious rooms. Buffet breakfast was amazing, would recommend over the lobby restaurant.

We stayed for one night as meeting friends at Charlie Nobles Restaurant for dinner. Perfect location, easy walk from the James Cook to restaurant. Our room was 2507. The room was reasonably priced, a good size, very clean, peaceful and comfortable. We have stayed here on several other occasions when we have been in Wellington due to it's location and...

Very impressed with the large size of the room and bathroom. We were fortunate to be on 22 floor overlooking the city & harbour so a magnificent view. Rooms very clean. The Hotel is within a short walk to number of attractions including museums, cable car & Cuba Street plus a few steps to the main supermarket.

Very friendly staff, easy check-in. Tidy clean comfortable rooms with minimal noise from other rooms and outside. Valet parking was easy to organise and good value for money. Walking distance to Burger Fuel, Michael Fowler Centre and Lush.

The hotel is well placed with a lift which takes you to Lambton Quay where there're shops and supermarkets. The staff were helpful luckily I asked about the price of a taxi to the airport and was given a card with a set price from the hotel, perhaps this should be given at checkin and also told to you when...
